He's squishy and easy to kill. If he's trying to kill you, turn on your B and he's gonna kill himself. And if you stun him, he's as good as dead.
3
Koshka
Stun her when she's Ulting and turn on your B and she's dead
3
Celeste
Super squishy. Dodge or block her stun and kill her like Ringo.
3
Skaarf
This squishy dragon needs to be stunned when Ulting and avoid his Goop and you're good.
3
Baptiste
He's just bad as a captain. And not so good as a jungler.
4
Adagio
Tankier than most squishies, but still squishy. Unreliable stun and his B is useless without an Attack Speed carry, he's not really a big deal as a captain. You also counter his Ultimate with your stun. And your B makes he kill himself with his Ultimate.
5
Blackfeather
BF is no big deal but he's mobile and can reach your carry quickly. Kill him, quick!
5
Ardan
Unlike you, he seriously lacks CC as a captain. A good Crucible nullifies his Ultimate completely. But he deals quite a bit of damage and can keep his carry alive for quite long, so watch out.
5
Fortress
When he dives your carry, immediately fall back to peel him off. He deals quite a lot damage as a captain.
6
Taka
Not a very dangerous threat. You can reflect his A and Ult if he's CP. If he's WP, stun and tank his strikes with your B. If he's fleeing, use Flare. Pay attention when he's trying to kill your carry.
6
Kestrel
Just tank her shots and she's gonna take massive damage. Like Taka, use flare when she's fleeing. Also, like Taka, watch out if she's trying to get behind you and attack your carry.
6
Lyra
Heal is extremely annoying. But her snare doesn't cancel Merciless Pursuit's speed boost, so there's that. Watch out for displacement from her ultimate, if she can have you separated from your team, you are in big trouble. Priority target.
6
Grumpjaw
Cath counters him because she can stun him while ulting and the bubble reflects a lot of damage because Grumpjaw deals a lot.
7
Flicker
Another annoying hero to face. USE VISION TO DETECT HIM AT ALL COST! Try to avoid ambush and STAY OUT OF HIS B or tank for your teammates.
7
Krul
In a team fight, try to take him out first. If he's trying to kill you, turn on your B and you can even solo him with Aftershock-Tension Bow combo.
8
Glaive
Try to protect your carry from him. Stun him if he dashes towards your carry and try to tank his strikes.
- A mobile Captain who can get to her allies quickly, not like Phinn.
- Has 2 reliable CCs.
- THE. BEST. STUN. IN. THE. GAME.
- Has a speed boost.
- Both her Perk and B increases her tankiness, unlike Fortress or Flicker who are
Cons
- Can't deal alot damage by her own if build Captain
- Doesn't have any skill to pull the enemies towards her, unlike Phinn and Ardan ( Gauntlet)
]
She gains 1 armor and shield permanently each time she stuns or silences an enemy hero. Although the bonus is small, it makes you extremely tanky! My Perk record is 139. Tell me if your record is even higher!
1. She gains movement speed so use it to catch enemies or escape
2. Her next attack deals more damage but still count as a basic attack. Build Aftershock (and Tension Bow) to deal a great burst of damage.
3. This stuns an enemy. Use it on enemy heroes and run away and you'll earn lots of armor with the Perk. And try to use it on Koshka, Adagio or Ringo to cancel their Ults.
1. It reduces damage taken. Use it to tank!
2. It reflects damage so try to face the dangerous enemy heroes to make them kill themselves.
3. Enemies around it takes damage. Use it as a farming tool.
1. Deals massive crystal damage to enemies in a wide cone in front of Cath.
2. Silences enemies so try to use it to engage/disengage.
3. Try to stun as many enemies as you can because it'll increase your Perk!
In this part, I'll explain about my item choice above about the support build
Early game:
Sprint Boots is an item for fleeing or chasing down enemies. Ironguard Contract will recorver health for you while clearing the jungle. And the potion is a must. You may change the boots for Oakheart
Go Oak Heart because you build lots of items from it and one of these items: Light Armor, Light Shield, Hourglass, Boots or Ironguard Contract. Go Light Shield/Armor if both of the enemy Carry and Jungler deals Crystal/Weapon damage. If you are just gonna farm with your jungler, go for Contract. If you are facing neither of these conditions, go for Hourglass or Boots.
Mid game
Try to rush for Stormcrown, Fountain of Renewal, War Treads and Crucible in that particular order. Go Aftershock second for some additional Crystal damage and CDR if both of your Carry. Stormguard Banner and Stormcrown adds some damage and CDR so it helps you with killing Treants to heal up and continue fighting. Fountain, Treads and Crucible is necessary for all captains because they are whole team buffs. Go Flare Gun if you are facing Taka, Kestrel or Flicker.
Late game
Go for Aftershock if you didn't build it mid game as it benefits Cath a lot. Only skip this item if you need to be tankier. Contraption, Nullwave Gaunlet and Atlas Paudron are good options for extra tankiness. Atlas is a must if they have a Weapon damage dealer. If you build Flare Gun earlier, complete Contraption. Build Nullwave if multiple heroes of their team build actives. Only build Tension Bow if you build Aftershock earlier and you are snowballing hard.
Core
I won't talk about Tension Bow anymore so skip to the other items. The lifesteal and attack speed from Poisoned Shiv is very helpful and the Mortal Wound is good against Krul and Reim and healers like Adagio and Lyra. Tornado Trigger increase the attack speed and crit chance too. I love attack speed!
Core
In this build, Aftershock is essential. Go for Shatterglass to increase crystal damage. You can solo Glaive, Krul, Ringo and other WP heroes easily by turn on your B and use your A to execute. Alternating Current will replace the Crown in this build but you can also use it. I pick Journey Boots because you're not a tank in this build but you can use War Treads as an alternative.
5th & 6th items
Cath isn't Cath without defense items. Pick Crucible if you have opponents listed in the support build or Aegis if you don't care about your teammates (joking), your roamer is doing too good or you need to use it often. Pick Jacket or AP if you're facing WP heroes. Utility items are your choice.
- Glaive's Afterburn can push enemies, especially carries, in a bad position and with the double stun from both him and Cath, there's no escape.
- His crazy damage can kill heroes quickly when they're stunned and silenced.
- Quite tanky, can be the second tank to protect your carry. - His skills requires tons of energy so if he's low on health, try to protect him and DO NOT ENGAGE unless his WP is crazily high.
- Cath's stun keeps enemies in place so Koshka can burst them down quickly. Cath + Koshka chasing you = racing with Death.
- She has a stun! 2.2s + 1.2s = 3.4s! No escape. - Squishy!!!!!
- Can't escape when Ulting so you must protect her.
Trading in lane
A -> B
Rush in with Merciless Pursuit to stun and Stormguard away. You take very little damage and get a stack of your passive.
Engage
A -> B -> C or C -> A -> B
Rush in with Merciless Pursuit and stun the squishiest enemy. If you can't, just stun the closest enemy. Turn on Stormguard to protect yourself and deals some damage to the enemy team. Then Ult the enemy team for a whole team silence. Remember to stun the enemy that can disrupt your ultimate or just Crucible.
An alternative combo is to use Ultimate first then engage with A. If they didn't block it, it's an easy stun.
Sacrificial is the greatest gesture of Love
If you decide to main Catherine, you chose the path of the unsung hero. If your team's retreating from a fight, cover your teammates' retreat. Don't hesitate to sacrifice yourself.
Hear the Love call
If your teammates are in danger, and you still have active items, rush to them immediately.
Don't fall into the s*x trap
Don't overchase! Your teammates can, but not you. If one chases, stay and protect the other ally.
Never Falter!
Even when you only have 25% HP left, go in and tank. Only leave when you have 10% HP left or losing team fight.
