Threat Hero Notes
1
Baron Baron is slow AF, should be an easy target for you. if he jumps away, jump after him and kill him.
2
Ardan Ardan doesn't really do much to you with his CC, since you are meant to stand and fight. If you are isolated inside or outside the gauntlet, use your reflex block to get through the wall to help your allies.
2
Catherine She can't reflect much damage as you don't deal a lot of damage, but rather, you sustain a lot. She can stun you out of red mist though, but that doesn't really matter because your Red Mist cooldown is shorter than her stun.
3
SAW He's so slow. Just jump on him, pop atlas pauldron, start spinning and he's dead
3
Glaive Glaive cannot out sustain a Rona with Serpent Mask. In a fair 1v1, Rona should win because of her tankiness over Glaive. But Glaive is deadly in the sense that he can peel Rona off his allies.
4
Joule I'm not too sure about Joule since she got regarded as a potato, but I think that she has enough innate defense to out tank Rona and can burst Rona down with her skillshots, assuming that she manages to get a powerful Rocket Leap > ThunderStrike combo off.
4
Koshka Koshka is now a really viable hit-and-run assassin, she is so damn fast. Which also means you can't out sustain her if she keeps bursting you then running away.
5
Blackfeather His ultimate allows him to reposition away from your ultimate quickly, and his health barrier negates some of the burst that you deal. However, your ultimate has much lower cooldown, and can out sustain him.
5
Adagio He's really good at kiting. Remember to use your Reflex Block when he is almost done ha belong his ult, assuming you are hit with arcane fire before. Your Foesplitter can reduce his healing, so that's very beneficial since he cannot heal himself as much when u mortal wound him.
5
Ozo Honestly, Idk. But I guess you might still win if you use both activations of Foesplitter to reduce his healing, especially since his perk gives him more healing. I've played as Ozo before, so I know he is also very sustain/tank heavy. Just not sure who is better, so I'll just put his threat level somewhere in the middle for now
5
Petal Her munions are very annoying if CP, as you cannot kill them fast enough, and she can kite you to hell. If she's WP, her munions are just like lane minions, so nothing to worry about. Except for her damage with the trampoline damage amp.
5
Rona Depends on skill and coordination with teammates.
6
Phinn Phinn is slow, but has excellent CC. He can be annoying by peeling you off his allies or quibble stun you during Red Mist. Or even just giving so much fortified health to his allies that you cannot cut through.
6
Taka Taka can be very elusive, attacking you when you are vulnerable and escaping or dodging you in your Red Mist.
7
Ringo He's quite a deadly ranged character, but has no quick repositioning skills to get away from you.
7
Alpha Both Rona and Alpha are very sustain heavy. But alpha has 2 lives, so she might kill you if she reboots successfully.
7
Celeste Queen of ranged fights. A good Celeste can peel herself away from you effectively. Try to gap close with your A and B if she runs.
7
Fortress His wolves are annoying, but your fast basic attacks should make short work of them. However, his bleed/mortal wound destroys the healing you get from Red Mist and Serpent Mask.
7
Skaarf Skaarf is fairly immobile, but once it gets frostburn, and lands SpitFires, you will never get close enough to Skaarf to kill it. His late game damage is also insane. And your defense may not be enough. Your best bet is to gank him early and often to deprive him of his late game and snowball a lead.
8
Lance As a Roam, he has great utility and mobility, can evade your Red Mist often while keeping you away from his allies. When he goes WP, build a metal jacket to counter his powerful Impales and auto attacks. You should out sustain him this way.
8
Reim When you use Red Mist, you move slower. This gives an advantage to Reim as he can land his Winter Spire more easily. In a 1v1 where he has Eve while you have Serpent, he should win.
9
Vox A very mobile hero with his low cooldown zoom. It's quite easy to get kited to death by him
9
Kestrel If she's WP, she's really dangerous because of her instant camo mist. She can use that to kite you and keep her distance if you get too close. If CP, once you start attacking her, she can't camo mist, making her vulnerable. Do not blindly walk into camo mists though, as they last for very long on a CP Kestrel
9
Krul You will find it near impossible to win this guy in a 1v1. He has about 4x as much lifesteal as you do, and he can halve your damage output with weakness stacks. Your only hope is to Atlas Pauldron him, use your Foesplitter (both activations), so you get the mortal wound which cuts his healing and provides some burst damage.
9
Gwen Gwen is fast and highly mobile, able to kite you and get out of your Into the Fray slow. To add on to that, she has a slow and stun in her kit to further keep her distance from you. Spinning against her makes you slower, which can make you get kited to death. Hopefully not!
10
Skye Skye is excellent at kiting. Her heroic perk and Suri strike allows her to reposition quickly in teamfights
10
Lyra Her Bulwark is a nuisance, you barely get any damage done if they are standing in her Sigil. And to top it all off, she has portals which can screw up your positioning in fights.
10
Samuel He can kite you quite effectively, so don't follow him when he is standing inside the dark cloud. His phantasm is also a very good self peel by putting you to sleep if you jump on him. Use reflex block to block the sleep phantasm.

Introduction Top

Hello everyone, this is a guide on WP Rona.

The WP build is centered around Rona's Red Mist. With the Serpent Mask and Breaking Point, Rona will be able to deal immense amounts of damage and be able to have incredible sustain while spinning. Whenever you are using Red Mist, try to hit at least 2 enemies, this will help deal more damage in teamfights. More importantly, this would draw attention away from your lane carry, allowing your lane carry to deal damage without taking much in return. In 1.20, her fortified health got increased. Although this may seem good at first glance, there is much more mobility in the halcyon fold now, making it harder for Rona to stick to enemies.

Abilities and explanations Top

Berserkers' Fury
Slot: Heroic Perk
Rona attacks 40% faster than most heroes, but she deals 80% damage with each attack.
Additionally, Rona's abilities uses bloodrage instead of energy, a unique resource that is generated from basic attacks, abilities and taking damage from enemies. This caps at 100 and decays when Rona leaves combat.

Her innately fast attack speed and unique bloodrage system synergies well with her abilities, and bloodrage is quite easy to obtain with her high attack speed.

Into the Fray
Slot: A
Rona leaps into battle, gaining 20 bloodrage from colliding with each enemy hero. She also gains fortified health for 3 seconds based on the number of enemy heroes she hits. After a short delay, the ground ruptures for 3 seconds, slowing enemies who pass over it for 35%.

This is a useful ability for engaging or escaping. This ability can be used to jump across walls so you can use it for a faster jungle clear or to juke out enemies. The rupture portion of this ability also slows, so you can jump in front of the enemies, but make sure they are within collision radius to give you bloodrage.

Foesplitter
Slot: B
Rona lunges to her target, landing a basic attack and granting herself increased move speed for 2 seconds. After using this ability she can briefly reactivate it to attack again, consuming up to 100 additional bloodrage, applying a mortal wound to her target, and granting her 25% additional attack speed for 2 seconds. All damage of the second attack is increased by 1% for each point of bloodrage consumed. Rona's basic attack reduce Foesplitter's cooldown by 1 second.

Against heroes with immense healing, mortal wound is their absolute nightmare as it cuts down their healing capabilities. However, in most other situations, you would use it for the bloodrage gain on 1st activation to follow up with Red Mist.

Red Mist
Slot: C
Rona begins an axe-wielding whirlwind, continually dealing weapon damage to nearby enemies. During the whirlwind she can move freely but at reduced speed, and gains fortified health each second. She can cancel the ability at any time by reactivating it or using another ability. Red Mist requires at least 75 bloodrage to activate. Deals half damage to minions.

This is a powerful AoE ability that also grants Rona fortified health. If you have enough bloodrage and you see incoming powerful ultimates which you cannot dodge, you can use Red Mist just to get some cushioning from the fortified health. You can also cancel this ability, which is useful if enemies use War Treads to get away. You can cancel, then follow up with Foesplitter or Into the Fray before spinning again. You do not want to be caught spinning in a vulnerable position, as you move slower, making you easy to kite.

Ability Usage Top

When fighting against a single hero, it is best to just use Foesplitter instead of Red Mist. One important thing to note is that Foesplitter has 2 activations, the 2nd activation can be done within a few seconds of the 1st activation. Since the 2nd activation inflicts a mortal wound, it would be better to use it if enemies can heal or lifesteal a lot, since mortal wound reduces healing. However, if the enemies are too fast, I would recommend using only the 1st activation, as the movement speed boost would be more useful than an attack speed boost+mortal wound.

When in a teamfight, always look for opportunities when enemies group up. When this happens, jump Into the Fray, use the 1st activation of Foesplitter. This should give enough bloodrage for Rona to start using Red Mist. Keep in mind that Rona gains bloodrage when attacked. So don't feel sad that enemies are targeting you, be happy! They are just allowing you to spin more and deal more damage while getting tons of lifesteal and fortified health.

Items Top

Starting Items:
Get a Weapon Blade first, and 2 potions.

Early Game:
After your first jungle clear, purchase a Swift Shooter. Then get a Barbed Needle for some sustain. Sprint Boots help Rona stick to enemies more easily. Get T1 defence or you will get melted in fights.
Always try to have some Halcyon Potion in your inventory, you never know when you may need it.

Mid Game:
By now, you should have finished a Breaking Point and improved your defensive items. You may want to upgrade to Travel Boots at this time for increased mobility and chasing power.
A Reflex Block would be nice to have at this point, as most heroes would have reached level 6 and have ultimates with strong debuffs. If you can block those debuffs, you can stay longer and contribute more in battle.

Late Game:
At this stage of the game, you should have also finished Serpent Mask. This is the point where you can deal lots of damage in teamfights now. Travel Boots are highly recommended at this stage of the game as other heroes will start to be more mobile, and you will need to be able to respond to objectives faster.

Situational (Offensive):
This is to counter enemies with high armor. Instead of using Red Mist immediately after Into the Fray, you would have to get a couple of basic attacks on them to shred some armor, then cast Red Mist for maximum damage.
This would improve your initial damage on Red Mist, giving it a shorter time to ramp up. This helps in reaching max Breaking Point stacks faster.
Crit chance and crit damage would go well with WP carries. I'm not entirely sure if this is better than Sorrowblade, but with high Breaking Point stacks, I think Tyrant's Monocle is a better choice. Note that the damage from Red Mist cannot critically strike, so to deal more damage with this build, you have to frequently alternate between using Red Mist and first activation of Foesplitter in order to use some basic attacks for the critical damage. If you deal critical damage, it will be nearly double the damage of what you normally deal per basic attack with a single Tyrant's Monocle. This will be useful if you think you can reach high Breaking Point stacks quickly, and be able to utilize the critical basic attacks to unsuspectingly burst down an enemy hero.

Situational (Defensive):
This is the item that gives the most armor. Build this against enemies with high weapon damage.
Build this to counter enemies building attack speed. This is one item that I find myself buying nearly every match. After Into the Fray, you can activate Atlas Pauldron and slow the attack speed of all the enemies around you.
Build this to counter mages. The Reflex Block is useful in many circumstances. It can be used to block stuns, silences, pulls, knockbacks etc. It can also give you a health barrier for 1 second, which could help you stay alive long enough to possibly turn a teamfight in your favor.
Build this if you find your laner always low on health, so that your team does not need to constantly rely on that 1 Fountain of Renewal built by the Roam.
Build this if the enemy team has a composition with multiple Area-of-Effect debuffs/Crowd Controls. For example, if the enemy team has both a Catherine and Adagio, 2 Crucibles would be needed to block those 2 pesky ultimates.

Situational Boots (Tier 3)
Halcyon Chargers
Halcyon Chargers are an effective pickup on mages such as Celeste and Skaarf, who have low mobility. The long sprint duration plus energy and cooldown related stats will give mages more damage throughout the course of a fight and allow for quicker repositioning. It is also a decent pickup on WP carries such as Glaive and Kestrel, since they use their abilities to deal damage as well, and they have a huge energy cost for abilities, which makes this a better item. I do not recommend this for Rona unless you really like to use Into the Fray frequently.

Journey Boots
Mainly recommended for WP carries. When on melee heroes, it will give them huge mobility in long fights. Sprinting twice in a teamfight can help you dodge certain deadly ultimates that are used to finish off enemies, such as One Shot One Kill. It can also help you escape or chase down an enemy after that teamfight. I highly recommend this on Rona. It helps her chase, and she does not benefit as much from Halcyon Chargers simply because she uses no energy.

War Treads
This is the item that replaces warhorn. It gives a sprint to all nearby allies. Commonly used for engaging, disengaging, pushing, this is a very versatile item that has great utility in teamfights. For example, if you can see a Celeste winding up for Solar Storm and you have run out of Crucible or Fountain of Renewal, you can use this item to boost your allied heroes, allowing them to easily dodge the Solar Storm. However, this is a item more commonly built on supports. Hence, I recommend getting one of the other 2 Tier 3 boots instead. The only situation where I would possibly see more than 1 War Tread in a team would be if SAW was in the team. Imagine the pure destruction that a mobile and fully spun up SAW would do when the sprints are well timed, enabling him to keep within range of enemies while dodging skillshots.

Roam Hero Synergies Top

Ardan
Ardan has the best synergy with Rona imo. Ardan has Gauntlet to prevent enemies from escaping Red Mist. After Rona uses Into the Fray, Ardan can Vanguard her, slowing the enemies around her, enabling her Red Mist to hit enemies for a longer duration.

Phinn
Phinn works well with Rona, his ability to reposition enemies can work to Rona's advantage. He can also provide Rona more fortified health with Polite Company, increasing Rona's durability in teamfights.

Fortress
Fortress has average synergy with Rona. His Truth of the Tooth allows Rona to keep up with enemies, while bleeding applied from Law of the Claw and Attack of the Pack would help slow enemies when Law of the Claw is overdriven. However, in the later stages of the game, Rona would be casting Red Mist instead of Foesplitter, so she cannot make full use of the bleed stacks that Fortress applies.

Lyra
Lyra is good with WP Rona, keeping enemies close to Rona with Bright Bulwark enabling enemies to be within range of Red Mist. Enemies also cannot dash away from Red Mist while in Bright Bulwark, enabling Rona to quickly stack up Breaking Point while being a powerful tank. Imperial Sigil is also a useful heal/speed boost that allows Rona to stay on top of her target during Red Mist, while providing her with some sustain before she ramps up her lifesteal power with Breaking Point stacks.

Lance
Lance is a very mobile support, able to cross walls and provides immense utility for his team through his Crowd Control. His Gythian Wall pushes enemies away, and stuns them if they hit a wall. This is useful for keeping enemies in Rona's Red Mist for longer. His Impale is excellent at helping Rona chase. It roots enemies in place, enabling Rona to follow up with her Into the Fray or simply auto attack. The peel he provides would work well with a squishy immobile hero such as Celeste or Skaarf. He can keep enemies away from the squishy lane carry while Rona becomes the frontline for her team, soaking up damage while dealing lots of it in return.
