1
Petal With this build you focus on fast attacks to pile on the damage, meaning you can dish out the pain faster than Petal and her minions can, so she won't be an issue during late game combat. Plus, your sweeping abilities can take out her minions while you focus on her, and she won't have an opportunity to replenish them.
2
Adagio The area of effect nuke is easy to avoid with Afterburn, and his other two abilities can't do much to stop you from tearing him to shreds.
2
Ardan Gauntlet isn't really a problem, but make sure your Afterburn doesn't overshoot and hit the wall of it. He can't really stop you.
3
SAW His attack speed matches your own after Spin Up reaches its max stack, and his damage can be just as high. Best bet is to knock him into your teammates with Afterburn to overwhelm him.
3
Celeste Her slow speed and lack of melee prowess can make her slim pickings for you if you catch her unawares. Afterburn out of the brush to surprise her in lane and knock her toward your turret and/or lane teammate(s).
3
Vox Vox can be one slippery salmon to chase down, but Afterburn makes that job a lot easier. His range is pretty small, so prey on that by staying just out of range while Afterburn gets ready.
3
Rona Rona can split your team up after you use Afterburn, which can make her annoying as all hell, but she's squish ire than most people realize. She's easily overpowered with a build like this.
4
Joule Dangerous since you only have Afterburn to get out of the way of her attacks early in the game, but once you build boots all it takes is some hard ass reads to get around her and take her down.
4
Koshka Her stun can be a pest, and her ability to come out of nowhere might be an issue if you're low on health. Just keep a watchful eye out and stay around your teammates.
4
Fortress Fortress can stack bleeding on you which might cause you to bleed out even if you escape a fight. If you see him pouncing towards you, activate your shield item. He's actually pretty squishy and is easily overpowered by you. Wolf minions will be no problem, as the three hits needed to kill them are easily attained.
5
Skaarf A moderate threat. His pesky, long-lasting abilities might make you want to run, but it's all about the reads. Afterburn out of goop pits and, well, it's Skaarf. He's squishy. You're not.
5
Glaive This depends on where he's at in his build and what he's building. If you can just overpower him and have better timing, you can deal with him. Watch what he's building through the match and adapt to his style.
6
Ringo Ringo was born to kite, and he'll do just that till the cows come home. If you want to chase him, Afterburn is your best option, otherwise his squishy stats are easily overwhelmed by your attack speed and power.
6
Catherine Catherine is a real pain. Her stun is super annoying and her shield is very effective against you, plus she can silence you so you can't Afterburn away. Target her last. Make sure you have a teammate with you if you want to fight her.
6
Taka Take can be impossible to lock down, but a well-timed Afterburn can keep him from slipping away. If he bursts toward you, throw up your shield item.
7
Krul This guy is dangerous. This build capitalizes on fast, hard attacks, but a Krul player can absorb all that damage and give just as much. Engage only if a teammate is around to assist you. Do this by Afterburning through him and hitting him towards your teammate, and he'll be overwhelmed.

Introduction Top

Hello, VainGlory players! It's me, GalacticAttorney. You might remember me from my 'Krul the Ripper' build I put up a little while ago. Well, I discovered another amazing build for a character I've always liked but have never been able to play: Glaive.

Glaive is a monster in combat. He can focus on one target in particular while hitting others around him with his axe swings, and he can even push an enemy toward his teammates or to a desired spot with Afterburn. This build in particular helps capitalize on his hidden power while still keeping you strong.

Welcome to Titanium Axe Glaive.

Sharpening the Axe (Abilities) Top

Glaive's abilities are all very useful, but you'll find yourself wanting to use Afterburn the most. This move allows you to rush forward in a targeted direction and gain some movement speed afterward, but this move's most useful effect is the stun that can be applied to any opponent you basic attack after using Afterburn. You'll use this move a lot in strategically maneuvering yourself and your opponents, so we're going to max it.

Twisted Stroke has both a passive and an active ability. It passively increases crit chance along with damage of area of effect (AOE) cleave attacks, and its active ability instantly executes a critical attack. This means any foes around you can be hit in the cleave, which is incredibly useful if you're surrounded or squaring off with a squishy character.

Bloodsong is a very good move if you're chasing a ranged fighter or if you just need to bring the pain big time. This move builds up stacks on Glaive as he gives or takes basic attacks; the stacks increase lifesteal. Activating Bloodsong consumes all these stacks, but deals an incredibly high damage in a wide AOE. It has some finishing lag to the attack animation, though, so be careful.

You Are The Weapon (Items) Top

Here I'll go over the items in the order you should build them.

Sorrowblade: This is what you should go for first, which is why the spawn purchase includes Weapon Blade. Despite the cost, this item is well worth the painstaking buildup of gold as it skyrockets your damage. Tip: Farming with your jungle teammate can produce lots of gold quickly, especially if they've got an Ironguard Contract.

Journey Boots: This is necessary so you can get to where you're needed or where you want to go without lumbering slowly over. Also helpful for escaping fights after using Afterburn.

Tornado Trigger: An obvious choice for Glaive, this increases his already fast attack speed by 75% and increases crit chance even more, making it a very useful tool.

Bonesaw: Bonesaw bolsters both Weapon Power and Attack Speed, which is incredibly useful for racking up both damage and Bloodsong stacks during fights. Helps a lot with farming too.

Clockwork: This reduces cooldown time for abilities, meaning you can pull off Afterburn more often during combat.

Crucible: While this item can be swapped out for other desirable ones (look in the item tab describing this) , Crucible is most likely your best bet since as can shield all your teammates if they're close by; useful for teamfights and for increasing your health.

Action Axe (Playstyle) Top

Once the match starts, what you will want to do is head into the jungle with your jungle teammate (works best if they have an Ironguard Contract) and do some good old fashioned farming. Let them get the first hit and make sure you get the killing blow so gold received is maximized between the two of you. A good teammate for this approach is Fortress.

After you've gotten to Tornado Trigger you can start to bring the pain to them. Get a little pushier with your roaming of the jungle but keep your jungle teammate close by just in case. Take the minion mine, do some more farming, help out your laner, and eventually you'll find yourself at the Kraken spawn time. Find the enemy, take them out, and best the Kraken for an almost assured victory.

Brotherhood of the Axe (Useful Teammates) Top

I've discovered some useful teammates to have on your side with this build. Let me elaborate.

Fortress is very efficient in backing up Glaive. He's a good farming partner and his wolf minion summon ( Attack of the Pack) can help find hiding enemies so you can go in and Afterburn them towards your team. Plus, his bleeding stacks get along perfectly with Bloodsong stacks.

SAW is a powerful ranged character that pairs nicely with this Glaive build. Once he's got full Spin Up stacks you can Afterburn the foe laner (or any opponent) towards him so SAW can let them have it while you join in the beatdown yourself.

Ringo's Achilles Shot can slow down the target, meaning you can catch up to them easier and Afterburn them towards your team.

Using Afterburn on a foe and knocking them towards your ally Taka allows him to hit them hard with his burst abilities, weakening them a lot before the stun wears off.

Celeste's stun ability combos with Afterburn's stun nicely, as she can stop the foe in their tracks with hers and you can knock them right back with yours.
