Threat Hero Notes
1
Petal Easy to bully early game.
1
Koshka You can tank her hits.
1
Taka Really bad early-game, if you bully him, he won't be a threat to you.
2
  No Threat
3
Flicker You just need good vision to shut him down.
4
Kestrel Be careful when charging in with your first ability, if she becomes invisible, you'll take a huge chunk of damage.
4
Krul You just need an atlas pauldron, and if you make the krul target you first, you can tank his hits and your teamates can kill him.
5
SAW Early game he can dent you badly but around mid to late game you can tank his hits and shut him down with atlas pauldron.
5
Skye It really depends if the skye is good or not, if not then she isn't a problem, but if she is good, she can mow down your stacks with her First ability
6
  No Threat
7
  No Threat
8
Rona She can grind down your stacks and if she's fed, she can be a huge problem to your team.
8
Phinn Can be problematic since he can block your ultimate.
9
  No Threat
10
Blackfeather This guy will be a huge problem because of his passive and his poke, recommended to ban in draft pick.

Overview Top

Grumpjaw as a whole is a decent champion, although not meta, can be painful, tanky, or just sheer annoying for the enemy. Grumpjaw's First ability Grumpy provides a good slow, his Second Hangry gives bonus attack speed, and his Ultimate Stuffed can completely bring an enemy out of a teamfight. In this guide, we will focus more into Grumpjaw's tanky side and assign him with the role of a captain/protector.

Pros
  • Heavy damage early game.
  • Heavy slow and a good gap closer with first.
  • His ultimate makes teamfights in your favor.
  • Extremely tanky mid to late game.

Cons
  • Really team-reliant
  • Hard to land First if enemy team has good reaction time.
  • Second is an extremely small gap closer.
  • Abilities use up a lot of energy.
  • Extremely good CC can shut him down.

Abilities Top

Grumpy
This ability is what you will use most of the time as Grumpjaw Support. This ability can be used in three different ways:
  • Starting a teamfight.
  • Chasing an enemy.
  • Escaping.
The reason why you prioritize upgrading your First Ability is because of the slow. The slow lasts for 2 seconds and when in Overdrive, the slow lasts 2.5 seconds. This ability has good CC and this along with a good jungler like Alpha can easily get you the double kill (killing the enemy jungler and captain) during the first 2 minutes of the match. Be aware that if this is your first few times playing as Grumpjaw, landing this ability can be kind of difficult at first since it will only affect the enemy when Grumpjaw swipes unless if it is a BRAWL gamemode and you are using his rare talent so make sure to practice.

Hangry
This ability is a small gap closer in order to catch up to enemies and if you are using an aftershock, you get a nice amount of lifesteal when using this ability. The reason why you don't max out the second ability is because you are a support. You just use this ability to do tiny amounts of damage to your opponent.

Stuffed
This ability is what separates from you getting aced or you getting an ace. You must understand the flow of battle and not use this ultimate at random times. With this ability your goal is to eat the biggest threat in the enemy team or the support. One way to execute this ult nicely is to have good coordination with your teammates. If you eat the support or biggest threat, use your boots or First ability to run away and let your other teammates kill the remaining enemies. The reason why we max out the ult is for the cooldowns and combine it with aftershock and stormcrown could make you eat enemies more often.

Items Top

Fountain of Renewal
A really basic support item. This is the first thing supports usually build up to. Only use this when allies are low since you are a Grumpjaw support, you tend to outlive your own teammates.
Crucible
This is what you will build next most of the time after the Fountain of Renewal. The times you won't build this next is when there are heroes that really on breaking point (Krul, Rona, Saw) and that you have to build an Atlas Pauldron first or when there are vision-countered heroes like Taka, Flicker, and Kestrel and that you have to work your way up to a Contraption .
War Treads
Another basic support item. It gives you a lot of health as well. Use this when chasing an enemy along with your teammates or just for escaping.
Stormcrown
This item is for the cooldown and it gives you an extra boost to your damage.
Atlas Pauldron
This item lowers the attack speed of the opponents around you. You can replace the Metal Jacket if you want more situational items in your build.
Contraption
Another basic support item. This item is used to gain more vision control around the map and it gives additional cooldown reduction to your abilities.
Nullwave Gauntlet
This item prevents the opponents from using items for a short period of time as well as it deals some additional damage. In my opinion, I build this item usually when there is a Phinn since your Ultimate is useless against him.
Echo
This item is completely optional if you want to eat your enemies twice.

Tips Top

  • Have good coordination with your teammates.
  • Focus on eating the support during teamfights.
  • Constantly check your enemies build and counter-build them.
  • Engage teamfights with your First
