Introduction Top

Hi i have been playing vainglory for a while and i am loving it. I have enjoyed playing Alpha and so i thought that i wold write a guide on her.
Alpha is a melee hero that people sometimes use in the lane (i don't know why) but usually play in the jungle.
i think she is great at chasing people down and making tactical ploys and when someone plays her they are usually quite dangerous.

lets get started!

Abilities Top

Infinite Reboot
Slot: Heroic Perk

Instead of dying, Alpha initiates a reboot sequence upon receiving lethal damage, gaining 325-1800 reserve health (based on level). For the next several seconds, enemies can continue to attack her and deal damage. If her reserve is not destroyed during this time, she will reboot to ample health at the same location.
The cooldown for this ability is displayed in place of Alpha's energy bar. Once this bar is full, Infinite Reboot is available. This bar will slide back to zero during the reboot process, indicating the remaining time left before she is restored to health.

Prime Directive
Slot: A

Alpha scans for enemies along a path. If she scans an enemy, that enemy is slowed and Alpha instantly dashes behind them, dealing damage to the target and all enemies within 4.5 meters (65% damage to minions). This also removes the negative effects of Core Overload (without removing the positive effects), dealing increased damage based on the number of stacks removed.
This is my personal favorite out of her abilities because it turns her into a chasing down monster. keep in mind that it does splash damage so doing it into the middle of the enemy team will weaken them all a lot. However be careful with this as you can try and pounce on someone while their team is around without you knowing and get melted. I also like to use this for when people think they are in the safety of their turret and you activate prime directive, kill them and run away. it is also very good for using this on a monster or minion when you are running and teleporting yourself out of reach.

Core Charge
Slot: B

Alpha lunges forward, landing a basic attack on her target and fracturing the ground for additional crystal damage in a small area. Each time she uses this ability, she spends 2.5% of her current health and gains Core Overload for 5.5 seconds, stacking up to 3 times.

Basic attacks reduces the cooldown of Core Charge by 1 second.

Core Overload: The health cost of Core Charge goes up by 2.5%, but also increases the damage of subsequent Core Charges and causes her basic attacks to heal her. Basic attacks refresh the duration
Extremely useful for bursting people down, especially while using crystal builds. I usually use this at the start of a fight then basic attack the enemy, reducing the cooldown so that when they are on about a quatre to a third health you can use it again and they usually run, then I activate Prime Directive, sealing their fate. I usually put five ability points into this.

Termination Protocol
Slot: C

On activation, Alpha begins a self destruct sequence. At the start of this she gains a burst of move speed as well as 400-1000 barrier (based on her level). Immediately afterward, she rapidly loses move speed as her Halcyon core approaches critical mass.

After 3 seconds, or immediately upon her barrier being breached, Alpha explodes. This explosion deals heavy crystal damage to all enemies within 4.5 meters and is lethal to herself.

This ability can only be activated while Infinite Reboot is available. Upgrading this ability reduces the cooldown of Infinite Reboot.

This ultimate is very useful because you can use it and infinite reboot and by doing so staying alive. it is extremely useful for chasing a weak player with the speed boost and health barrier, killing that player and then infinite rebooting, however this can be risky because if you don't manage to kill the player, and once you self destruct they can turn around and kill you. it is also very useful for turning the tide of team fights by using it and exploding in the enemy team's face and dealing massive damage to them and then infinite rebooting while your teammates force the enemy to not attack you by focusing them. you can also use this as a form of escape by activating it and then using the speed and health barrier to your advantage to run into the safety of one of your turrets to infinite reboot. as i said before, i usually choose between over driving this ability or prime directive. you may have noticed that i did not do the lvl 12 ability upgrade and that is because it is for you to decide.

Overview Top

Alpha's recommended build is weapon but i think that if you want to go weapon Alpha is probably not your best choice and you should use someone like Krul or Glaive instead. and if you are looking for a good weapon build, you are in the wrong place. Anyway enough of this and lets get into a CP alpha overview.
also remember that Alpha isn't as good at 1v1s as say, Krul and that her main advantage is her mobility.
she is still pretty good at 1v1s but don't expect to win a sustained fight with a weapon build melee character.

At the start of the game you are pretty weak so avoid confrontations until you are about level three. while you are getting to level three try to farm up as much as possible and one you have ,like 500 gold head over to the shop to get your first items.
once you have around 100 - 150 CP you should head out into the lane and use prime directive and core charge to bring them down to half health (if the had full health) or kill them (if they had around half health or less) using this technique you can harass the enemy laner, making your team's laner's job easier or score a few early kills as most laners are very squishy in early game and due to the constant battle between the laners they are rarely on full health.
once the minion mines spawn in you should try to get yours as soon as possible and not try to get the other team's minion mine unless you are completely dominating them. keep on farming up.
around the 6 - 8 minute mark there should be plenty of team fights and you should help whenever possible. by now you should have quite a lot of CP and because at this point most players haven't started building defense you should be able to dash in with prime directive, use core charge and do about half to a third of their health. use this only on players that aren't building tanky because it wont be as effective on them.
continue in this harassing fashion for the rest of the game.

Items Top

Attack Items
1.aftershock
I always use this on alpha because it makes her Prime Directive and Core Charge both a lot more OP.
2.broken myth
broken myth pushes CP above what any other item can achieve and is a great option for Alpha.
3.frostburn
the frostburn is great because it give you the bonus slow when using an ability and it also grants you an enormous CP boost.
4.alternting current
I always get alternating current on CP builds because if you don't have it and are playing CP you are helpless and vulnerable when you abilities are on cooldown. Also the attack speed makes alpha's abilities come of the cooldown timer a lot faster.
5.shatterglass
the shatterglass is good sometimes but it doesn't work with alpha's abilities and if i do decide to get a huge CP boost i will go with Frostburn because the slow works well with all of her abilities.
6.eve of harvest
A good item in its own respect but i don't find it very useful on alpha.

Defense Items
1. Journey boots
A must for almost any hero - including Alpha.
2. Crucible
Get it if you need more health.
3. fountain of renewal
A useful item but i don't usually get it on Alpha.
4. Atlas Pauldron
Get it if you are up against a high attack speed hero.
5. Aegis
Useful against cp players.
6. Metal Jacket
Useful against WP playes.

Conclusion Top

Thanks for reading my guide on Alpha and i hope you found it useful.
Tell me if you think i should add anything.

Good luck!
