Hello and Welcome to our newest guide! Today i will teach u how to Play Lance like DarkPotato. Lance carry is in my opinion one of the strongest solo junglers at the Moment played as wp or cp. So lets start with the abilites first. If your here for the cp Version of Lance read the cp Lance guide instead. |
Lance's Auto attacks are piercing attacks instead of normal ones. But therefore his attack Speed is slower and item which boost his attack Speed are less effective. Try to hit more minions or enemies at once to fully make use of this ability. Build on Wp this makes Lance a strong damager for the Team. Keep in mind that On-hit effects like Tension Bow or Aftershock only affect the targeted enemy and not all in the row. Additionally, Lance uses Stamina instead of normal energy. Stamina refills slowly by time and his abilities cost some of it. If you build items that recover energy it instead recovers a short ammount of Stamina. Stormcrown gives Lance the perfect ammount of Stamina for teamfights to maximize his damage and Utility as well as good cooldown reductions. |
This ability makes a good Lance. If you hit it you win if you miss it it gets hard. Try to Lure enemies near to walls to make it easier to hit. The jungle is perfect to hit because of the ammount of walls and other obstacles arround it. To get the perfect engage try to Combat Roll to enemies and hit with an Impale combined with a quick Auto attack from Combat Roll. This makes enemies lose 1/2 of their health if you hit everything. |
Use this ability the best by punshing enemies onto a wall to stun them. On may lvl it has a 3-4 sec cooldown which means you can stun enemies a lot. This makes
Lance a great Support for your Lane carry as well as dealing damage. If you can, stun enemies and if you cant just try to get enemies of your Lane carry by pushing them away. In Addition this ability grants you a lot of damage reduction if you attacked an enemy. This makes Lance such a good carry. You dont Need much defense because of this ability. I reccomend upgrading this ability at lvl 12 because it grants you 20% damage reduction (additionally 4% more). |
Combat Roll gives Lance the ability to move arround even faster. Thats why you dont Need Tier 2 boots as fast as other carries. Combined with Stormcrown you can literally be everywhere where you are needed. Stormcrown lets you farm really quick and also works with the fast Auto attack after a Combat Roll for quick burst damage. Use this perfectly to Reposition yourself in teamfights or to gapclose to get into Impale range. |
Play Lance very aggresive in the early game. At the first shop you should get 3 Weapon Blade's. Two of them are directly used to get a quick Tension Bow and the other one will be usefull later on. Always try to get the enemies shop creeps or even go further if your Support joins you. It is hard for enemies to dodge Impales in the early without Sprint Boots or a Reflex Block, so make use of it and Play aggresive very early on. |
After your Tension Bow your next item rush should be Stormcrown. The only item you can get before it are Sprint Boots for better rotations and some escape. With Stormcrown your jungle clear is Ultra fast which makes u be everywhere where you are needed. Try to clear your jungle efficient and rotate to lane or together with your laner to the jungle and try to get some kills or objectives. Also Keep in mind that Stormcrown makes a Goldmine very easy to be captured, you can even solo do it if your Team disatracts the enmies Team in that time. After Stormcrown you are free to get some smaller Utility items if needed like a Reflex Block, Light Shield, Light Armor or Travel Boots. If you are happy with ur items so far start Building the first Sorrowblade. After the first Sorrowblade you should have at least a Reflex Block or an Atlas Pauldron if needed. If not, a second Sorrowblade could help you Keep up the pressure from the early and midgame. With Stormcrown farming is so easy and therefore you have lots of Gold to spend on more damage. Try to snowball the early game and starve out the enemy jungler by taking his farm. This makes it an easy 3vs2 game and its easy to fokus one target down with Lance. Always stick on the most dangerous target and try to stunlock it with Roots and Gythian Wall stuns if possible. Never let enemies get to your Lane carry in teamfights and try to stay on a small distance. Altough Lance is considered as a melee hero, he more feels like a ranged tanky hero. Try to stay out of melee range when enemies have melee junglers and poke a lot before you engage, or just go all in and burst one target down in 2 seconds. With the Stormcrown Stamina recover and cooldown reduction its very easy to get much damage and stuns on the enemy Team in a fight. This is also a reason why i like this item on Lance so much. It provides so much Utility for 800 Gold less than another Sorrowblade, and it also gives you true damage which might be good if enemies build armor. |
Lance works perfectly as a solo jungler but some supporters are perfectly for him. I personally love playing with a Lyra because it Counters the only real threat to a Lance, Taka. Other great Combos are with Cathrine cause it makes it easier to hit Impale's but i prefer something like Ardan to protect your lane carry even more or to boost you for gapclosing. Cathrine is the best Support for People who are yet unsafe to hit the most Impale's. If you are trained with Lance you dont Need another stun to hit your Impale's. More important than the supporter is the Lane carry. Play carry Lance with hypercarry laners like Celeste or Skaarf if played on wp and carries like Kestrel, Baron or Vox if played cp. With Lance it is easy to protect them and his high Utility in teamfights makes it easier for your lane carry to stack Breaking Point or Broken Myth to maximize damage quickly. |
