Introduction Top

Hi,
I have been playing Blackfeather since update 1.12 and while he is not as broken as as he was with the old Breaking Point before 1.14 (and the Bonesaw for the next two patches) he is still one of the most dominant carries in the meta.
Blackfeather has arguably the best kit in the game with two reliable gap closers , one slow and one speed buff along with a barrier on 3.5 seconds cooldown. To add to all this goodies, his Rose Offensive is THE most flexible ability in the entire game.
For those who don't have much idea about him, think of him as Krul on steroids. He needs to stick to the enemy to be viable and his kit is designed to do exactly that. So without any further delay, let us proceed to find out how to make the best quality adhesive in the halcyon fold. So STICKY that your enemy carry will need to take a bath after the match.

ABILITIES and OVERDRIVES Top

Heroic Perk: Heartthrob
This perk has various aspects to it but we will only focus (no pun intended) on the part that is relevant to WP Blackfeather.
Heartthrob stacks work like Bonesaw that is they stack 1 time per basic attack. This stacks two times on minor objectives and upto five times on major objectives and heroes. It also provides Blackfeather 5-10 CP damage per basic attack with a small ratio. Think of this as a slight increase to his base damage as it won't be much useful otherwise on WP builds.
The part with which we need to concentrate on for our Hot glue recipe is Focus. Focus is basically a much more flexible version of energy with a much higher regen rate. And it regens with basic attacks on a hero that is mainly about basic attacking. This is so useful that you can just ignore it. U will never run out of focus. NEVER. This is also why I recommend buying featheryglue instead of the deadglue brand. The deadglue brand just doesn't last as long with that energy bar. So next time you visit the shop, ask for featheryglue that sticks as hard a month in.

A: Feint of Heart
This is a very reliable gap closer and also works as a second War Treads for your team (which is unslowable on overdrive). This ability should only be overdrived at level 12 (unless you are against a triple melee comp) as the On Point overdrive contributes much more to out Hot glue formula.
The most important aspect of this ability is in relation with Heartthrob stacks. This ability instantly applies as many stacks on the enemy as you have put points into it. Though this is extremely useful for CP builds to maximize DPS , it's not a big factor for WP since we will be getting those stacks by autoattacking anyways. The real catch here is that when it is used on an hero with 5 stacks, it does bonus weapon damage based on 20 percent of that hero's missing health and with a 20 percent weapon ratio(which scales nicely with Breakikg Point). This has the potential to do as little as 100 damage or as much as 1000! based on how it is timed.

B: On Point
The most spammable slow (70 percent on OD!!) and barrier (scales with bonus health)on the Halcyon Fold but requires emmaculate prediction to actually land. The use of this ability seperates the bad and good Blackfeather players. DISCLAIMER: OVERDRIVE IT AT LEVEL 8. ALWAYS. The CD of 3.5 secs and the range of 9 halcyon units is too good to ignore. Also, this ability is the main damage source for CP builds but it does fairly decent damage on WP builds (a 100 percent ratio ). Even then, it is recommended to use it for the utility it provides over anything else.

C: Rose Offensive
You might be asking why do we need to put roses in a hot glue mixture. Let me tell you why- because roses act as glue between couples to increase emotional attachment and increase the stickiness. To begin with, this rose ability can be used as offensively (when you want to land that girl) or defensively (when you want to make sure ur partner sticks to you) depending on the situation. But there's more thorns on this rose than your eyes can see at first glance. This multidirectional dash does AOE weapon damage by basic attacking all enemies in its path and is technically a free reflex block. And u can turn it into an AOE slow by activating Shiversteel and dashing into the enemy lines. Want more? Well there you go - 2 charges instead of 1. Best ability in the game? Pretty sure, with only Vanguard being a real competitor for the title.So why are we not overdriving this? Because it is already so good at 2 points that u don't need to get the third and instead get the increased utility of the other two overdrives. Though I recommend getting the second point in this ability at level 9.

Itemization Top

Blackfeather needs a fairly tanky stack dependent build to be viable and the BP mask build is still the most reliable for our hot glue recipe.
You should start out with a Book of Eulogies and one light defense based on the enemy carry. (Get shield against Vox even if he is WP because it will help in farming early game). Also carry three Halcyon Potions to stay health against enemy roam peeling on you. DO NOT try to get kills until your first visit to the shop. It is pointless. U just don't have enough stickiness or damage yet. This starting is just for safe farming so make sure to maintain a decent CS.
By your first visit to the shop you will have around 3k gold if you have farmed efficiently. Buy Travel Boots ASAP followed by Blazing Salvo, t2 armor and shield. Upgrade ur BoE to Barbed Needle. This is where ur glue will start becoming effective and u can participate in teamfights if needed.
Visit the shop next when u have enough cash to buy Breaking Point and Aegis. Why this weird purchase? Let me explain. For starters, BP is much easier to stack mid game than late because when ur enemies see you are making a difference they are definitely going to buy defence against you making it harder to stack. And the enemy team will try their best to seperate you from their virgin carry ; this is where you will need that aegis to stick longer and steal the virginity. Note: your team gets 100 gold extra if any enemy hero loses their virginity first.
This will be followed up by finishing the Atlas Pauldron and Journey Boots. The AP is a better item than MJ in nearly every case because Blackfeather can jump on the enemy very quickly and make sure the poor girl can't fight back by reducing her attack speed. The t3 boots increases the strength of the hot glue mixture.
Next finish up your Serpents Mask to make sure you steal all the life from the [now not so virgin] enemy carry.
This makes up your CORE build. Now, as you might have noticed you still have one slot left. This slot will be dedicated to counter building the enemy.
1. If the enemy has a lot of armor (like atleast one Metal Jacket), go for a Bonesaw. Always buy the pierce component rather than the aftk speed before completing the item.
2. If enemy has cancerous heal comps with Adagio, Ozo or Lyra or Double Fountain of Renewal then go for Poisoned Shiv
3. If enemy is double CP, go for Fountain of Renewal
4. If enemy doesn't have two defensive items(weapon defence is usually left out since it can be kited) for example Ringo with four offensive items and one aegis, opt for sorrowblade to increase DPS and achieve ****** on the Ringo faster.
5. If enemy is extremely MOBILE , so much that even Blackfeather glue can't keep up, then go for a Shiversteel.
Note: In most cases, you will be opting for the Bonesaw because how well his build synergizes with stacks. Just make sure not to change target while in teamfight because shred stacks don't carry over from hero to hero and u need to start shredding for start again. Also Bonesaw and Shiversteel can be turned into AOE effects by using with Rose Offensive.
