Intended to be a timing touchstone, I also use this guide to remind me of a reliable build while playing
Ardan as Roam. I keep it open on my laptop and have progressed through Getting There using it.
Please adapt and counter-build accordingly, i.e.
Aegis instead of
Atlas Pauldron. I find WP to be more predominant than CP, from a very rough estimation, so I've built accordingly here.
Don't be afraid to forego boots and get two
Coat of Plates facing full WP opposition ;) At 1600g verse 2100g, it's close to the "200" armor threshold (after that armor has deep diminishing returns). Be sure to sell the second Coat for inventory space when you're in a position to buy
Metal Jacket, which should be the choice over Atlas when there isn't significant AS built by the enemy.
Switch between hard critical output with
Tornado Trigger and stackable critical/WP with
Breaking Point, depending on whether engagements are pop 'n' roll or extended, which is convenient because both items build from the same Tier Two input. (Don't forget to take advantage of the guaranteed critical on first attacked hero from
Minion's Foot, by not directly going into
Lucky Strike).
Each set is what your inventory will look like after the corresponding shop visit. Bring at least the amount of gold shown.
The basic aim of this build is to significantly boost Vengeance regeneration and ideally be popping
Blood for Blood more often while getting crits - pummeling your foes. It also gives a baseline boost to health, armor, and CP for protecting the team and yourself. Since "BFB" incorporates both WP and CP, I would rather have CP to give Gauntlet an extra sting.
Vision is extremely valuable (saying this to myself). I alternate flares for encounter vision and traps for static vision. Don't go overboard though, six traps could have started a sixth item.
Situationally, I'd rather have a well placed trap at the close edge of the enemy turret brush and one at the close bottom of the team brush while supporting lane, than a flare; and i'd rather have a flare in the jungle. Although, there are static and strategic zones to trap for vision, most importantly around the Kraken pit.
When the Kraken spawns I feel like it's the best time to utilize the inventory space on build, rather than vision. It's hard to miss the Kraken, although a flare might come in handy if your team is huddled in the brush wondering whether it's safe to attack.
(If you are stuck in base trying to make a comeback sell the boots and build into
Crucible to give you an edge since you won't be going anywhere.
Never surrender and keep your fist pumping!)
