Threat Hero Notes
1
  No Threat
2
Skaarf Skarrf is extremely vulnerable during his Ultimate, simply stun him and he's dead if your team focuses on him.
3
Phinn Do not focus on her at all. Focus on the damage dealers and you will be alright. When it comes down to a tête-à-tête with your doppelganger, consider getting a Breaking Point
3
Ardan Watch out for Ardan's Gaunlet and Blood for Blood. The Gaunlet can be escaped by moving out of range before Ardan lands or Reflex block and walk out of the Gaunlet. His Blood for Blood is treated like a Basic Attack hence Shiversteel can slow your teammate down, when that happens, quickly stun Ardan's teammate that is with him if he have any.
4
Phinn Phinn is a living Reflex Block and will most likely be a Tank so Tension Bow and Broken Myth will surely hep.
4
Fortress His Truth of the Tooth allows his team to lifesteal if they attack the sorry lad that got marked as prey. Also, his Ultimate can be used to track your locations. He will most likely be seen with his teammates since his heroic perk grants him movement speed bonus when he is with his allies. Hence, expect at least a 2v2 fight when you see him.
4
Ringo Ringo's Hellfire Brew deals true damage; no amount of shields or armor can minimize the damage by him, however, Reflex Block really helps as it will mitigate all damage. Force him into close combat and your odds of winning increases significantly.
5
Koshka Koshka is very strong Early Game being able to deal alot of damage Early Game. DO NOT attempt to invade enemy jungle when there is an opposing Koshka with another support. You're bound to lose the engagement. Late Game however, her effectiveness will be diminished but her stuns can seriously mess up your team, locking your teammate down and possibly incur a loss on your side if your teammate did not survive. Hence, you might want to buy a Crucible
5
Rona Rona may be very devastating especially with her Red Mist but she is very slow and you can easily get out of her Ultimate. Also, stunning her will cancel the ultimate hence making her vulnerable especially when she does not have a Reflex Block.
5
Adagio Adagio's Gift of Fire and Agent of Wrath could seriously send your team packing especially when paired with a ranged hero with a lot of Weapon Power like Ringo. However, he is very vulnerable when he is channeling his Verse of Judgement, hence, stun him while is is doing that especially when your teammates have been hit with Arcane Fire. Alternatively, you can Reflex Block the moment the Rune Markings became bold, signalling that Adagio is almost done with his channeling, hence Reflex block will prevent the stun from connecting to your team.
5
SAW Be wary of SAW's Spin Up and Roadie Run. If he is going to Roadie Run, quickly stun him while he is running. As for the Spin up, Shiversteel him and he cannot run unless he uses his Roadie Run which is also slowed.
6
Joule CP Joule' Big Red Button is very devastating but it can be dodged easily by walking out of her line of fire. Alternatively, you can quickly stun her during the blast but you may die if you do not have shield items built.
6
Blackfeather Very squishy but his Rose Offensive will be a liability to your teammate's survival as the Rose Trail will prevent your chasing adversaries from being slowed when he Overdrives it as well as gaining a speed boost. You have 2 ways of evasion: 1. Stun the hero that deals the most damage and quickly pop out your Stormguard and attack. 2. Warhorn and try to get away.
7
Skye Skye is very mobile, able to strafe once target locked and able to unleash hell with her missiles especially when you're up against CP Skye.
7
Glaive Glaive's Afterburn allows his team to easily gank with him pushing the victim to his side, also, it can be used as escape. Hence, when you see Glaive with his afterburn, stun him ASAP.
7
Vox Although not as dangerous as his Sister, he can still devastate with his A Ability and Ultimate. In a Teamfight, be wary of his Ultimate as the Silence is almost instantaneous and deals loads of damage with his blast.
8
Celeste Celeste is deadly with her Heliogenesis and Solar Storm. Not to mention that her Core Collapse stuns enemies inside it. But, all of her skills are in the form of Skillshots, hence, you'll need to have the element of surprise to gank her. Get out of the way the moment you see Celeste's Solar Storm at the edge of your screen.
9
Taka Taka's B ability allows him to escape and heal, possibly get the jump on your Jungler or Laner when they least expect it. Buy Flare Guns instead of a Scout Trap
9
Petal Petal is extremely dangerous with her Ultimate and her Munions deal Crystal damage. Hence, build Shields early.
10
Krul Krul's Spectral Smite have Lifesteal along with his Dead Man's Rush giving him bouns defence. If he is picked, focus on his death first.

Introduction Top

Hello all Vainglorians, I recently joined this website and I'd like to post a guide about Catherine to all those new players who wanted to try out Catherine.

Catherine is a hero mostly played as a Roamer aka a Support so one must buy an Ironguard Contract using the 10 seconds when you're locked at base before you head out. She is extremely useful as she has reliable Crowd Control, A Ability being a Stun and her Ultimate dealing out Silence, hence, she is usually played as a Roamer.

Early Game Top

Early Game, you must accumulate as much gold as you can in the Jungle as well as getting your Jungler to level 6 by 6 minutes. Hence, buying an Ironguard Contract will result in both you and your Jungler to gain much more gold than attacking it alone. You should instruct your Jungler to take out the back double minions by the mine and the Jungle Boss in that area also. Attack the creeps first then proceed to run away from the creeps so that it will target the Jungler and you'll be stepping out of the XP zone, giving your Jungler all the XP he/she gained from killing the minions with extra gold from your Ironguard contract.
After you and your Jungler cleared the Jungle camps, place the Scout Trap at the place where the Gold Mine will spawn. That will give you Kraken vision mid game as well as knowing whether the opposition is in the area. After that, buy an Oakheart and clear out the Jungle Camp again.

Once you're done with the 2nd rotation, quickly buy the light shield and build towards a Fountain. However there are exceptions. If all 3 of your opposing heroes have the ability to stun, prioritize building Crucible first just so that your heroes will not get locked down via stuns.

Keep a close eye on your minimap especially on the lane. Your laner can be GANKED by the opposing Jungler and Roamer. When you see the laner is in trouble, quickly rush to his/her help IMMEDIATELY. Doing that will increase the chances of you not getting a loss.

Mid Game Top

Once the Minion Mine spawns. DO NOT capture it immediately. Your minions will be powerful but you will essentially giving more gold to the opposing laner as the gold mine will make your minion's worth even more. Hence, you're giving the opposition the chance to make a comeback economically (provided that your team is already in the lead by invading the Jungle camp or Jungling much faster than the enemy Jungle team).

Only capture it when you're looking to make a push for the turrets to make the job easier.

Gold mines should be captured when you're safe to do so (For example, opposition seriously out of position to steal or they got Aced) as doing so will give your team 300 gold each time the Gold Mine done his mining (seen by the dial in the minimap) and with extra gold by capturing it in the first place, depends on the dial, if it's half your team will get 150 gold each.

If your opposition already captured one of the minion mines, do not capture the other one in retaliation. Doing so will not give you any advantage whatsoever and will even the lane economy. What I mean is that you're essentially giving the opposing laner the same amount of gold per minion killed as the opposing jungle team giving your laner hence, a fair fight and you'd want to stack the odds against the enemy (of course, no cheating) to increase the odds of you winning the game.

15 minute mark and the Kraken spawned and you aced the enemy, do not capture the Kraken. Instead, push the turrets. Why do I say this? The Kraken may be a BIG help pushing the turrets but when she is killed. The team who killed it will get 500 gold each, hence, you're giving them a chance to make an economical comeback. Let's say with the Kraken, you pushed 2 turrets down, that will be 600 gold each (300*2 turrets) but when the opposition managed to kill the Kraken, they will get 500 gold each. 600-500=100 gold. You will profit , yes, however, your profit is by a SMALL MARGIN hence, giving your enemy the chance to make a comeback. The only exception to this rule is when you're looking to end the game and enemy have at most 3 turrets left, in which in that situation, you should commence a full siege to the Vain Crystal.

Late Game Top

Now this is where the team fights break out. Your team must stick together at all times, do not deviate from your teammates' rourte as they may be ambushed and their odds of survival, let alone winning the teamfight, is not in their favor.

However, when you know that a teamfight is coming soon, coordinate your team to set up an ambush. As a Support, your job is to initiate the teamfight. Here's a combo that you can do.

COMBO ONE: BREACH

Blast Tremor (Make sure you hit at least 2 enemies, if not, all) -> Merciless Pursuit (Make sure it connects with the damage dealer)-> Stormguard -> Basic attack the stunned damage dealer, keeping the pressure on them.

Now, as Catherine, you can take alot of hits when you tank no problem. What makes it even more awesome is that your Stormguard not only damages enemies in contact with it, enemies who attack it will have a percentage amount of damage reflected back to them and the enemies in the vicinity (Keep in mind that neutral creeps will also be affected including the Kraken) along with a bonus of 25% damage dealt back when you overdrive it. Hence, your enemies will be dealt 25% more of their own attack damage, turning their glorious damage back at them.

Use your Shiversteel to slow down enemies so that your teammates can get a lot more hits on them. Warhorn can be used both offensively (chasing the enemy or messing up your enemy's skillshot) and defensively (helping your team flee from enemies).

6th item recommendations Top

Basically, the recommendations are either to help end teamfights sooner or is a counter item.

Atlas Pauldron are used against Heroes whose ability or perks benefits from Attack Speed eg. Krul's Spectral Smite

Breaking Point & Broken Myth are picked as they're very useful over long teamfights. Making you even more powerful as the teamfights grow longer.

Shatterglass is also a viable choice if you're looking to deal a lot of Crystal damage with your Merciless Pursuit and Blast Tremor

Finally, Aftershcok is used mainly against Tanks but could also deal a chunk of damage to the Damage Dealers with the added Cool Down Acceleration & Energy Regeneration and the Lifesteal that takes away 50% of the 15% of enemy's base health dealt by the Aftershcok. Effectively giving you 7.5% of their health once you used Aftershcok against them.

Conclusion Top

In Conclusion, Tanking Catherine and getting ahead of your opposition's economy are factors as to whether the chances of your team winning. Also, initiate the teamfight before the enemy does to dispatch them quickly.

I thank you all for taking time to read this guide and I hope that this guide helps people to get up to speed using Catherine.

Any comments will be accepted, except for those rude ones.

TL;DR Thanks and don't be an ***hat.
