Welcome Top
Hello everyone, I would say what I am going to be talking about but I think everyone knows what this is about. CP
Rona. Let me just say this was not my idea. It was actually my laner's idea since crystal junglers are so popular in today's meta. I'm all for trying new builds, but a CP
Rona? Never would have guessed it. Anyway, Lets get right into this.
First Things First. Skills. Top
This is going to seem strange to a great many people. On a CP
Rona you do NOT want your ultimate
Red Mist. At all. Honestly, you could be level 12 and never purchase
Red Mist and you would be fine. The reason for this is because the sustain and DPS on
Red Mist with CP is a complete joke. I have tried it before, if you go into
Red Mist as CP, you are asking for a lost team fight.
As far as the other two,
Into the Fray and
Foesplitter, they really are preference. I like to get
Into the Fray overdriven first because you really need
Alternating Current before your
Foesplitter becomes too effective. Do not get me wrong,
Foesplitter is still effective, however without the cooldown from attack speed, it falls a bit short.
Who needs an Assassin hero? Top
CP
Rona has got to have some of the most insane burst I have ever seen. Honestly, she can rival
Taka or
Koshka when it comes to burst damage. Her
Into the Fray is really what hurts. If you can surprise a carry with that, the rupture will almost certainly shred their health.
Foesplitter is honestly just insult to injury. Use this to close gaps and activate again if it seems like you are gonna get peeled or to secure a kill. Case and point, you do not want to get jumped on by a CP
Rona.
Itemization Top
Aftershock is one of my personal favorite items. Probably, due to the fact I put high priority on burst damage. This item will strengthen your early game significantly so I recommend getting it first. Also, both activations of
Foesplitter will proc an
Aftershock. You should space these activation out to both A) Allow time for
Aftershock to cooldown and B) Build up Fury,
Rona's resource, to make the second activation hit that much harder.
Alternating Current is more for longer team fights. This item will help you
Foesplitter be ready more often so you can keep up burst and
Aftershock procs. Finally,
Broken Myth is here to make every second worse for your opponents. You already do so much burst, now you will do even more as the fight goes on. Combined with
Alternating Current to keep
Foesplitter up, the enemy team are gonna have a rough time.
Journey Boots Top
Rona does not use energy. Therefore, you really do not need
Halcyon Chargers. I would recommend
Journey Boots however if you feel you need more mobility out of your team (like if your team is a
Phinn and
Ringo you may consider getting
War Treads. Your Captain should already have
War Treads however, sometimes two are useful.
Playstyle Top
Play CP
Rona like an assassin with the defense of a warrior. Jump in, do some big damage, and back off only if you have too.
Rona is not actually an assassin, so you do not have the mobility of someone like
Taka. Try to stay on top of someone to keep getting
Foesplitter back. Only leave if you have to, or your carry needs help with peel.
One thing I want to call attention to again is
Red Mist. Don't use it. If you activate it on accident (it has happened to me countless times) deactivate it immediately.
Red Mist is one of those abilities you can cancel early. The reason is, again, you do not get much out of it. THink about it.
Red Mist consumes your resource, fury, and
Foesplitter scales off of the amount fury you have on the second activation. The second hit from
Foesplitter is always a better option on a CP
Rona than a full duration of
Red Mist. Not to mention
Foesplitter is significantly less time consuming.
Scenario time. You just got
Aftershock and the enemy
SAW is having a bit too much fun in the lane. Setting up in the mustache lane bush, you see
SAW go into
Suppressing Fire. Perfect. As soon as you see this, jump right on top of him using
Into the Fray.
SAW is immobilized during his
Suppressing Fire so you are likely to land the second rupture of
Into the Fray as well. Combined with an immediate
Foesplitter and
SAW is going to go down. And your laner is going to thank you. Normally, you would also take this time to apply
Atlas Pauldron to your target. In this case though, you wouldn't need it to take down
SAW.
This would be an ideal scenario, but lets face it, you probably will not be fighting
SAW every single game. Against most heroes, try to land
Into the Fray behind them. Most players will run at the first sign of an assassin hero. Landing behind them increases the chance the rupture damage will land. Either that, for they would have to move into your laner to escape the rupture. Either way, you have put them in a tough spot. Same goes for a team fight. If you get behind them and
Atlas Pauldron, they have to choose to either risk the rupture, or move into the rest of your team. All the while they cannot effectively stutter step due to the
Atlas Pauldron debuff.
Closing Thoughts Top
This just about wraps things up. Remember, your burst is real, your sustain is not. WP
Rona is better for a tanky front line and puts
Red Mist to significantly better use, however if you need a high damage hero, CP is the way to go. Even a single target attack speed WP
Rona does not compare to a CP in terms of burst. Any questions, leave a comment and I will get to it when I can. Thanks all.
