SO what I have done is made fortress entirely support. This means that you should be taking hits and although you will be in the middle of fights, your team should be the ones finishing them. I have had games where I have gone 10/2/18 and a game where I went 1/5/23. As you can see the second game looks like I didnt do too well but my taka went 26/0/8. He didnt die cause I did the dying for him. If you have to sacrifice yourself so be it but you should be tanky enough to take hits.
So i have chosen the items I did for tankiness and support. Multiple fountains means you can keep your team healed. Warhorn for quick escapes. And if you dont like the aegis I often replace with crucible. reflex block with a little added tankiness can make or break a team fight. Fortress does have crystal potential which is why alternating current is there. Its to add damage from basic attacks when youre on cooldown. You should be striking first with A, using B immediately after and then basic attack themdown. Added attack speed and crystal bonus damage on attacks is exactly what you need! Eve of harvest is also a good item becuase it stacks with B.
*NOTE*
for the start you can see the ironguard on one hand and oakheart on the other. You would realistically be picking ironguard all the time. However, A LOT of people don't know about the change to ironguard and the fact that it relies solely on both junglers taking out camps TOGETHER. If the other jungler doesnt stay with you then your ironguard is pointless. You will still need it for warhorn though so what I do sometimes is start oakheart and play like I have ironguard. After clearing out the first camps buy an ironguard and keep up the farming but with ironguard benefits.
So try it out! my first build. Remember, the goal is to be as tanky as possible. Read the other team and build a counter. I have run 3 fountains, eve, boots, and crucible in a match. Yes 3 fountains. you have to keep the team alive. Ardan had that potential with little attack to back it up (when going full tank). However, Fortress can hit hard without much investment(Ardan takes hits way better though). So build the way you see fit. Pull up the scoreboard and counterbuild the other team. You see weapon power? Atlas pauldron. Crystal? Aegis. Mix? both or buy a crucible to block the damage. Fortress is very versatile so there is no one build. Instead tune him to each team and fight and you can with little resistance.
More to come later as I play more games!
