The intention of this build is to get
Serpent Mask early which helps you survive long enough to build stacks of weakness, and stay engaged so
Breaking Point can be effective. If get you that far in the build, you're durable, and you can finish the enemy. If you're being focused, and burned down too quickly to build the stacks, consider
Bonesaw, or
Tornado Trigger instead of
Breaking Point.
It starts out with emphasis on farming, and survivability, before moving more offensive - which matches my personal play style.
Please, please comment and vote so I don't lead anyone astray, and I can improve my build and game play.
I'm a long time gamer, but relatively new to this particular genre, and game. I'm Karma level 8, and "decent-ish," but I think the skill tier has more to do with skill than build. I love the strategy and planning part of this game, though my skill level is admittedly poor. I thought I'd share my Krull strategy, because it looks great to me, eventhough I personally struggle with any hero or build.
-Thanks!

Buy
Ironguard Contract (250g) and go to the pair of minions on the enemies side by the shop (ping the map so your team knows what you're doing). Go to the shop and pick up
Swift Shooter (300g), if you're the only one on your team in the jungle clear all the minions on your side. If a teammate came to your side, go clear the enemies side (use the bushes for your heroic, only engage when you think you can win, and escape to your teammate for help). I prefer to avoid PvP at this point unless I see a very easy target. I like to grab
Sprint Boots (300g) early for the extra option to chase or escape. I might grab
Book of Eulogies (300g) if I'm alone in the jungle to keep health up, and since it works towards
Barbed Needle and
Serpent Mask.

I pretty much stay in the jungle 100% if I can. If the enemy is only sending one player to the jungle, I like to be near their minion miner when it first spawns, then head back to mine if a teammate hasn't already. If I'm able to play agressive I farm the enemies side, if I'm forced to be more defensive I farm my team's side. If I'm simply feeling out-matched I tend to farm the camps nearest the top and my side of the jungle so I can get to help.
I really like
Blazing Salvo and
Travel Boots, but if I'm encountering the enemy, or fighting the miners a lot then
Barbed Needle seems really valuable. I want
From Hell's Heart before engaging the gold miner.
Now I feel better about engaging the enemy.

Barbed Needle just doesn't cut it anymore - you need some weapon power.
Serpent Mask is my top priority. It's beautifully offensive and defensive. It allows you to take some damage while you're building stacks of weakness and
Spectral Smite. I have had many enemy encounters where I have
Barbed Needle and I'm surviving, but my damage output is just too low, so I may grab
Weapon Blade, or
Heavy Steel to hold me over, which also works towards
Serpent Mask. IMO, for
Krul to be at his best he needs to build stacks, which he can't do with hit-and-run style, or as a glass cannon - which is why I prioritize lifesteal weapons.
Honestly, I usually try to grab
Breaking Point before I pick up any true defensive items, but if I've died a few times and I'm getting burned down fast, I might just grab a cheap defensive item or two. I'm not a brilliant defender, so I enjoy the passive defense of
Light Armor,
Coat of Plates, and
Atlas Pauldron. The active of
Atlas Pauldron lasts 5 seconds and affects the enemy, SO your teammates benefit too! However, your defensive choice should consider your opponent's strengths. If I feel like I'm feeding the enemy team, I might also start building
Aegis.
If things are going reasonably well I'm actively looking for easy enemy targets, and I feel pretty good about intentionally engaging. I feel like I'm going to win if I get to this build. If I'm already feeding the enemy lots of deaths then it's taken me too long to get here then this build won't work - go defensive and stay near help.
If you're engaging the enemy and not getting destroyed, then
Breaking Point will put you over the top, and you will carry. Again, the intent of this build was to be able to build stacks, which synergizes with
Breaking Point. You should be able to engage with your heroic from the bushes, and chase with
Dead Man's Rush and
From Hell's Heart.
Shiversteel helps if you're chasing or being kited (maybe overkill for chasing, and I usually look for a better defensive cooldown). I don't find
Journey Boots that much better than
Travel Boots if I'm on the offensive - skip it. I grab
Hourglass or
Chronograph if I'm strongly on the offensive.. Sell Irongaurd Contract after you get 4 or 5 t3s to make the final push.
If I'm behind in level, or simply being outplayed, I generally go defensive. Don't bother with
Breaking Point if you're getting burned down, consider
Tornado Trigger instead but focus on getting two t3 defensive items before upgrading your weapon. Get
Journey Boots if your
Travel Boots are on cooldown when you need them and you have the gold to spare. When I'm getting burned down quickly I often start building
Aegis in addition to
Atlas Pauldron. I only end up with both these items in games that were already ugly, I don't think they're the cause of ugly games... Defensive items should be based on how you're getting beat, every defense item has it's place. Upto you to determine which ones and the order.
