Early Game Top
CP
Blackfeather has a very expensive build. Also, due to the [1.14] jungle buff, the only really viable position for him is lane.
Start with a
Book of Eulogies and farm up passively. Rotate and get an early
Light Armor or
Light Shield if you are up against long ranged laners such as
Ringo,
SAW,
Celeste, etc. If up against passive laners, poke them with your
On Point while also aiming it at your farm for last hits (2 birds in 1 stone!).
On Point also grants a barrier that scales with bonus health, so when you predict poke poke them to gain a barrier to block the damage (after that immediately back off to stop minion aggro).
After your first buy you have have 2
Crystal Bits. Now you can start actively poking your enemy laner if they weren't bright enough to but a
Light Shield during their first buy. Rinse and repeat and farm passively. Do not engage unless ahead, and you need to let your team know your power spike hasn't come yet.
Mid Game Top
After hitting level 8 and getting your
Broken Myth, this is when the fun begins. Due to the overdrived range on
On Point, poke your enemy the same way you did, but also constantly to stack you
Broken Myth in case a fight breaks out anytime. CP
Blackfeather's biggest flaw is that he needs a cooperative team. If he doesn't have max
Broken Myth stacks, the support should not engage. This is harder to achieve in SoloQ, so just try your best! Also, at mid game his only damage source is his
On Point, so you should never dive in fights at this point.
Late Game Top
Now, this is when the real fun begins. After getting you aftershock, you
Feint of Heart and
Rose Offensive now have a damage source.
Before any engagements, always infuse so you have enough defense and extra CP scaling. During engagements, keep on poking the enemy team. When you have max stacks, click on your
Shiversteel and (hopefully) your jungler dives in for the carry. You should immediately follow up with
Feint of Heart which also grants a speed boost, and start attacking him. Make sure to NOT miss your next
On Point on the carry, since the barrier is the only thing keeping the squishy you alive other then your defense items. At this point you have 2 choices:
1. You are still healthy → stay in the fight and activate you next
Feint of Heart on the max heartthrob enemy, hopefully killing him with the % missing health damage +
Aftershock proc.
2. You are low on health → back off with your
Rose Offensive (Not so offensive anymore eh? Wrong.
Aftershock damage wink wink~). Try to pass through all enemies during your retreat to proc all
Aftershock damage on all enemies.
Aftershock damage also grants you 50% of the damage done with it as health regen, hopefully keeping yourself barely alive for the next
On Point you are about to throw on the whole enemy team.
What next?
Still good on health? → Turn on the other enemy and do the exact same thing.
Low on health? → Keep poking from outside range, and go in with
Rose Offensive again once they are low enough, and also grant you another slight health regen. After the
Aftershock cooldown wear offs use
Feint of Heart again.
End game Top
DO NOT get into end game at all costs. This is where CP
Blackfeather falls off badly, due to the enemy stacking up shield and double infusing.
Also note: The
Aftershock build is more advantageous against high health enemies such as
Glaive,
Ardan. It is rather mediocre against low health enemies, so the best is have a teammate that also has an easily interchangeable WP/CP build so you guys can swap easily when enemy team comps are not in your favor.
Note #2: In the meta now he is considered weak and unviable in higher tiers. This is very true due to his multiple flaws, and not being as good as his WP counterpart. However, he is a very fun hero to play in casual!
Hope you enjoyed this quick guide!
