Introduction Top
Today, we will be looking at
Taka
One of my personal
favorites !
Here is the overview of
Taka
Pros:
-Stealthy little racoon
-Can make someone go from 100 to 0 in a matter of seconds
-High escape potential
-Can make unexpected gank anytime throughout the game.
-Very sustainable hero with heal from
Kaku. Can turn around and re-engage on enemies.
-
NUKER!
-Versatile hero, can switch item build easily.
Cons:
-Easily killed by enemies if your skills are all on cooldown (squsihy)
-Traps counter you
-
Slumbering Husk on enemies is a pain in the a**
-Low base defense & attack, can't solo jungle at the start when you play Crystal
-High cooldown on skills at the start.
Weapon or
Crystal?
Choose
Weapon if:
-Enemies are tanky|
Lance,
Glaive,
Catherine,
Blackfeather | and it's hard to burst them down.
-You want to jungle & farm more easily
-You don't wish to rely on your skills
-You tend to mis-tap on creeps & heroes and miss your skills
Choose
Crystal if:
-You just want to go in and get out ASAP
-You see squishy enemies |
Ringo,
Kestrel,
SAW,
Vox etc |
-You wish to unexpectedly kill enemies
Pros of,
-
Weapon:
=Even if all your skills are on cooldown, you still can continue fighting
=No more mana problems!
-
Crystal:
=Safely escape after a fight
=Don't have to stay around for too long
Cons of:
-
Crystal:
-No skill = No damage
-Countered by
Slumbering Husk
-Can't fight tanky enemies well
Weapon:
-Nukers can take you out before you take them out
-Requires you to get up close to enemies
-
Atlas Pauldron can stop you from dealing damage.

Weapon, Hard Hitter Top
In this build, we focus more on higher base damage, to more or less 'one shot' enemies.
This build relies on critical hits for damage.
=SKILLS=
Fairly balanced leveling of skills here, since we are not playing Crystal. If you need
Kaku to safely engage, you can level it first.
=ITEMS=
Starting Items:
Both starting builds are fine, the DPS is roughly the same. However if you wish to get a
Tension Bow faster then take the alternate starting build.
Early Game:
Tension Bow is our main source of damage for this build. We need to get this ASAP or else we won't be able to kill anyone.
Mid Game:
At this point, we require more damage. So buy a
Sorrowblade to increase your small was well as a
Tyrant's Monocle for higher critical chances to increase damage.
Buy a
Energy Battery if you keep running into mana problems trying to use
Kaku
If you can't survive well, buy defense.
Late Game:
Buy either
Bonesaw if enemies have thick armor or buy a
Breaking Point to increase damage as well as attack speed.
Buy
Tornado Trigger for even better critical chances.
For defense,
buy accordingly to the situation. If enemies take you down too fast from attacks, buy the
Atlas Pauldron. Otherwise go for
Metal Jacket
If enemies keep getting in your way by
stunning you, go for
Aegis. This also helps to block the
debuff from
Atlas Pauldron
==============================================
Weapon, Fast Hitter Top
In this build, we opt for more attack speed, so that we can utilize our heroic perk
House Kamuha, and get more bonus damage.
Cross-refer to first weapon build for notes about buying defense.
=SKILLS=
Just like the previous build, we pretty much balance things out for lower cooldowns.
Reminder:
You can level
Kaku more early on if you need the lower cooldown to engage.
=ITEMS=
Starting off with
Weapon Blade and a
Swift Shooter to be able to get our
Tension Bow ASAP, or else we have no
damage.
Early Game:
Tension Bow for damage.
Mid game:
Tornado Trigger to get more attack speed for
House Kamuha hits.
Bonesaw for damage + attack speed.
Energy Battery if you have mana problems
Defense if needed.
Late Game:
Sorrowblade to increase damage
Crystal Burst Top
Name says it all, we are going to blast enemies and erase them off the battlefield!
=SKILLS=
We prioritize on
Kaiten as this is our main source of damage.
Although this causes
Kaku to have a longer cooldown, you should be able to deal enough damage and leave the battlefield safely.
=ITEMS=
Starting Items:
In order to not
alert the enemies and make it clear that you are buying
Crystal, we choose to buy a
Swift Shooter and defense so that enemies will not choose to buy a
Kinetic Shield at 4 mins, rendering you useless.
These starting items will also help you to jungle easier so not to worry too much.
Early game:
Going for
Aftershock so as to be able to deal damage with our basic attack after using skills.
You can opt for
Shatterglass first if you want more damage for
Kaiten as well as
X-Retsu.
Mid Game:
Shatterglass for skill damage.
Broken Myth to counter pesky shield buyers
Energy Battery to solve mana problems
Late Game:
Buy a
Clockwork for the 70% damage amplification. Skip if you need armor.
Halcyon boots for more mana regeneration.
Crystal Infusion for more damage.
Taka Hybrid Top
As weird as this build looks, it works well if everything is well coordinated (using skill, then attacks).
This build helps out to mitigate the mana problems that
Taka has, having weapon power as a source of backup damage. However this build requires you to farm a lot in order to have sufficient gold to buy your items.
=SKILLS=
Leveling
Kaiten more to deal skill/crystal damage.
You can level
Kaku more if you need to escape more frequently.
=ITEMS=
Start off with a
Swift Shooter and a
Crystal Bit to deal both weapon and crystal damage in the jungle.
Early game:
Buy the bread and butter,
Tension Bow &
Aftershock, for damage in both fields. Go for tension bow first if want more attack damage. Aftershock for lower cooldown and more crystal damage.
Mid Game
Get more damage for attacks and skills by buying a
Shatterglass and
Sorrowblade
Late Game:
Buy your defenses now. If you don't need them, then go for a bonesaw if you want attack damage OR a Clockwork/broken myth for more spell damage.
--
Choose a
Weapon Infusion if you want more attack speed and damage
Choose a
Crystal Infusion if you want more spell damage.
Captain Taka Top
May or may not work well, depending on how well you utilize him. It's always better to choose heroes made to play captain, however this is a backup plan if you need it.
=SKILLS=
Here, we choose to go more for
Kaku so as to be able to safely scout enemies hiding in bushes. Also helps to be able to surprise ambush the enemy laner.
=ITEMS=
Start off with
Oakheart and
Swift Shooter to help you
Crystal power jungler.
Otherwise, go for
Oakheart and
Ironguard Contract to be able to stay alive in the jungle.
Early Game:
Fountain of Rejuvenation ASAP to keep your team alive.
Flare Gun to pinpoint out enemy Scout traps which can prevent you from roaming around safely.
Midgame:
Buy a
Contraption for mines and flares as well as lower cooldowns.
Buy a
Stormcrown for damage.
Late Game:
Buy both, or choose one based on your presence if you need
Crucible or armor. If you need both armor and crucible, skip both. Then Stormcrown will be your only source of damage.
---
Atlas Pauldron to stop enemies like
SAW /
Glaive
Halcyon Chargers for better mana regeneration to be able to use
Kaku
War Treads to be more tanky as well as to help your team chase/flee
Blitz, Weapon Top
=SKILLS=
You can choose to level up
Kaku more if you need the lower cooldown.
=ITEMS=
Choose whichever starting you feel is best for you.
They all work well.
Blitz, Crystal Top
=SKILLS=
Kaiten first for better damage output.
=ITEMS=
Choose Starting 1 for pure nuke
Choose Starting 2 to deal with early shield buyers
Choose Starting 3 to have some basic attack damage
Choose Starting 4/5 to be able to use skills more often.
TRY THE IBMA BUILD AT YOUR OWN RISK. IT REQUIRES HIGH COST AND I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LOSS TRYING TO DO SO
Friends And Foes Top
Friends
Who doesn't like an extra invis buddy to fight with?
His slow from Ability A will help you to land hits.
Stunners help you to be able to catch up to your enemies.
They can also be your FOES and prevent you from escaping.
Foes:
Her Ability A can scout you out easily
His pack wolves can scout you out easily
Her reboot can be a problem if you don't have enough damage to prevent it from happening.
Can take you down easily during early stages of the game where you are paper.
Mitigates all your crystal damage.
Potential Questions Top
Q: I can't survive well during early stages in the jungle.
A:Make a trip back to base and buy Halcyon potions. Don't be afraid to use your skills as well. Avoid getting rooted by the healing minion.
Q:How do I not mis-tap?
A:Take your time, go practice in lobby, use you index finger instead of your (fat) thumbs.
Try to aim you tap directly centered on the hero.
Q:I have no slot to buy a flare, and my captain doesn't want to buy it as well. What should I do?
A:Stick with your team, if all 3 enemies are in the lane, you can choose to make a quick run around the jungle so as to take out any scout mines.
Q:How do I steal miner/kraken kill when I'm playing weapon?
A:Time your ult to be able to get closer to them, followed by you strong basic attack to claim the steal. This needs practice so take your time.
Q: Can I try the imba build in casual games?
A:Go ahead, I won't be stopping you first you have the desire to do so. But in casual games you earn gold way slower so you might not be able to get all the shatterglasses in time. (3000x4 =12k gold required). I've seen people get only 2 shatterglasses and it still works well.
Q: Is it possible to only buy fountain and not play as a captain?
A: Why not? If your team can survive well and you feel that you can do well without a captain, go ahead. Although u might want to buy flares/mines in case the enemy captain placed down a lot.
Conclusion Top
Hopefully this helps you in your journey of becoming a better Taka player.
Do also take a look at my other builds, (Joule/Adagio/Celeste). They can be found under my profile.
