Introduction Top
Hello Vainglory players! I'm kHalaxis and this is my first guide. I've been playing for a while and got the hang of the game but never really participated in the community. I picked up Skye early access and immediately began experimenting with potential builds. One thing I noticed right off the bat is that Skye is really squishy. She also lacks a "true" escape skill. She's really high risk high reward. It pays to be aggressive with her as passive play will lead you to be sitting ducks for assassins. Don't be afraid to dive in to team fights with a quick Target Lock + Suri Strike. Even when I lose, she's a lot of fun to play with. Anyways let's hop into the Build Analysis.
Just Starting & Early Game Top
When starting, you want to rush
Eve of Harvest and your
Travel Boots. This gives you an amazing lifesteal by firing off
Forward Barrage as well as good movement speed and mobility as Skye really needs both. The laning phase can be difficult depending how well you can pick up last hits.
Target Lock the opposing Laner ASAP and prepare to Barrage once they over extend. Once you get to level 2
Suri Strike to pick off weakened Laners or assassin attemptees like
Taka and
Koshka when they first jump into lane. Buy defenses as needed but continue to rush towards your Eve of Harvest and Travel Boots. If you find the enemy playing unecessarily aggressively, fall back and get Target Lock before retaliating. You will be susceptible to ganks early game so keep in mind that the jungle is very dangerous then.
Mid Game Top
Now is where Skye really begins to pick up. Make smart use of Barrage cancels as well as Suri Strike + Barrage flanks to quickly pick of enemies. Use
Death From Above for either area denial or smart reads that can pick off your enemies. At this point you should be building towards your
Broken Myth. BM stacks means that not only are you progressively getting strong during combat, you also get more lifesteal allowing you to have a lot more sustain during longer team fights.
Late Game Top
At this point, you can begin to take on up to 2 enemies at once but only in select situations. Stay mobile and Barrage often. Suri Strike to perform well timed kites then ult their retreat path to finish them off. You can assist in taking the Kraken to get BM stacks before steamrolling the enemy team. Opposing WP heroes will have a hard time taking you down due to your armor and lifesteal. 1v1 vs melee heroes is where Skye shines. 1v2s will be harder but it requires to focus them in a group in order to barrage the majority of their health and Suri Strike + Death from Above to finish. Suri Strike is maxed so that you can deal as much damage as possible as well as keep enemies locked so that you can dive in and pick them off in team fights.
Alternating Current is the last item in the core that you should get as every other attack not only is based off your CP, but it also grants lifesteal. You can also now Target Lock much faster. AC + BM means that your basic attacks get progressively stronger before you dive back in to burst down enemy heroes.
Conclusion Top
Skye's heroic perk,
Target Lock means you can dance around minions and kite effectively around enemies. However, unlike
Ringo or
Vox it's far harder to stutter step. It's more like a strafe/dance as the time between selecting an enemy and firing is surprisingly high. As stated before, she's really high risk, high reward and aggressive play will net you the most reward. Don't confuse aggressiveness with recklessness as that will let you be ganked often. Be wary of when and where you Suri Strike as that's your most mobile skill. Skye's play forces you to be cognizant of the enemy positions as well as the minimap. Skye is really an all-in or nothing hero.
This is by no means a finished product. I will be updating this guide the more I play with her as well as to clean it up some more. I hope this helps and all feedback is welcome!
