Simple, the build allows the already tanky Glaive to reach its full potential in the WP branch. The serpent's mask, sorrowblade and Bloodsong gives Glaive an exceedingly well-performing survivability. And with he breaking point, it's just overkill.
Who wouldn't want to see Glaive absolutely dominate those puny one armed pistoleers in a matter of seconds?
It's a bit convoluted, so bear with me.
Glaive's Afterburn is extremely powerful and usually the only factor the hinders that perfect positioned knock back is speed.
Glaive is almost always outrun by slippery laners, placing him at a fatal disadvantage.
With the early boots, you can always catch up to fleeing foes, escape deadly cross fires and basically you'll be the fastest in those first few minutes of the game.
But they're crucial for your initial survivability and once you get the two heavy defense item alongside the items, you're basically a jet plane that carries tracking nukes.
Overkill. Devastating. Swift. That what makes a Glaive deadly and the early game boots portrays just that.
Now go and dominate the Fold!
