Playing as Crystal Glaive Top
Crystal power Glaive in my opinion is one of the most underrated hero builds. Playing as crystal Glaive you don't want to play as aggressive early game like you might do if you were weapon Glaive. Focus more on farming in the early game and avoid invading the enemy jungle. Once you have hit level 3 or 4 and have a decent amount of crystal power, I would suggest to start playing more aggressive and look to invade. keep in mind that while playing crystal Glaive all of his damage comes from his abilities and avoid engaging if you don't have energy. With a crystal build Glaive relies on finishing off enemies quickly. If built crystal power Glaive becomes an assassin that is superb at picking of targets one by one or dealing tons of burst damage to a group of enemies with his abilities. It is important that while playing crystal Glaive to play more strategically, If you jump into enemies head first without thinking you are most likely to get destroyed because of his low damage sustain. I highly recommend trying crystal Glaive only if you have a support who knows what they are doing and understanding of the cautious decisions surrounding him.
Roaming as Glaive Top
While not a traditional roam or support hero, if built right and you have a clue about what your doing Glaive can become just as good a support as the others.... if not better. Playing as Roam Glaive it's best to capitalize on his natural bulkiness and use that to your advantage. A team with a support Glaive already has a distinct advantage in the jungle, because he still has a better early game presence compared to traditional support heroes. It's important that when playing roam Glaive that you rotate up to lane regularly. Glaives' afterburn ability is easily the best ability to start a gank and set your team up for a kill. Picking up early tier 2 boots will allow you to better your positioning allowing you to maximize afterburn resulting in kills and the perfect gank. Getting a clock work or even just a void battery is a must for support Glaive, because you will find yourself constantly running out of energy during fights, which makes you almost useless because you won't have any source of damage to contribute to the team. Just like any other support it is a must to adjust your build based on the opposing team, because as a support it is your job to make it a living hell for the enemy carry and do whatever you can to help your team come out with the win.
Carrying the Team as Weapon Glaive Top
Probably the easiest and most common way to play Glaive, but also probably the most effective way. Playing as weapon Glaive, it becomes your responsibility to push and carry the team to a win. When playing as weapon power Glaive look to play a bit more aggressive in the early game because he has a terrifying early game presence. Specifically look to invade the enemy jungle and starve them out, in doing that you easily setting your team up for a victory. I suggest getting a early tension bow on Glaive as in doing this will almost double your already impressive early game. Weapon Glaive relies mostly on his critical hits to quickly burst an enemy down. To ensure a win with weapon Glaive you want to jump ahead in items as well as farm so that you leave the opposing team very little chance of being able to stop you. If you want while playing weapon you can swap the tension bow for a serpent mask, if you decide to do so you will strengthen your late game presence at the cost of the early game dominance. Weapon Glaive is flexible and has a various number of item paths you can choose from and still be a terrifying force in any game.
