Introdution Top
Hi, my name is Manhoef, and I managed to get to mid simply amazing with just krul in Febuary. However due to glaive being a better aoe version of him at the time, and because of higher elo competition, I decided to main him instead. However now that krul got an ungodly buff, I have managed to use my old build, this build with amazing sucess.I routinely have a positive 10 kill death
ratio with this build quite often against poa players and due to this, have decided to share my build. So without further ado, lets get into how to successfully play him and his buffs of course.
Kruls buffs, large and small and how much better he is now Top
Krul before the update: to be quite honest was just plain squishy without defensive items. But now semc has him a new lease on the tank side of life. The first and the most discrete change to make krul more Tanky, was adding health, armor, and shield. They added 200 health and 10 armor and shield to his base stats for the buff, making him about 30% Tankier to all forms of damage. The less obvious, but even more terrifying change to krul is the mechanics of dead mans rush(dmr for short). The reason being, now dmr acts as itself and also a basic attack simeltaniously giving 34% lifesteal insentaniously. Also it now resets the basic attack, so you can get stacks of in less than a second. That's 68% lifesteal! Add a bonesaw in and you automatically get 48% armor pierce in less than a second. If you do the math and add on the last bonesaw stack and another spectral smite stack, 60% of your Wp is true damage with 85 lifesteal! This means that you get 183 true damage per basic attack (lvl 12+ sorrowblade) and get 155 true lifesteal health to 244 true lifesteal health per attack. Add on the rest of the normal damage and krul is hitting even harder. He also has 186% attack speed and gets an even quicker dmr cooldown! Krul can now be terrifying and Tanky!
How to use Kruls abilities, his heroic perk, and shiversteel Top
What makes krul so able to kill ranged characters such as ringo, and fast melee characters such as koshka? His slows, his stun, and his gap closers; a good krul can always win in a 1v1 situation and is inescapable when a character tries to 1v1 and runs away. His heroic perk grants him 2 additional move speed and a 40% slow (for 4 seconds) to the first thing he basic attacks, after standing still in a bush for 1.5 seconds. He can suprise the enemy by sprinting out of a bush and will stop any ranged hero from kiting him with the 40% slow. However, the slow provided by the heroic perk alone is not enough (most of the time)to secure a hero kill by itself. Overlapping the shiversteel and his heroic perk is a different story; with both of them combined at once you can sprint out of your bush (6.9 move sped with tier 2 boots)and slow by 73% for 3 seconds, and then hit again after the perk and shivarsteel have both run out to reactivate a shiversteel slow ( which is 40% for 3 seconds; shiversteel's
effects last 6 seconds ( the time period in which you can get the slow, which slows for 3 seconds). With this combo you slow by 72% for 3 seconds and then reslow for 40% slow for another 3 seconds. Pretty op right? Right after you slow with you perk and shiver for the first time, automatically use dmr to to reset for another basic attack automatic 4 stacks in less than 1 second( I go into this and his damage potential in the previous paragraph) . By the time the second shiversteel wears off and if you somehow haven't killed the enemy with a spectral smite, use dmr to cover the distance yet again to close the gap, and then use your ult to stun and slow basic attack once and spectral smite. That will kill any enemy garunteed! His ult has 2 purposes, 1 to stop an enemy ult from coming to deadly fruition Ue skaarfs ult, and 2 for chase and gap closing. His Spectral smite should always get at least 6 stacks up with the enemy being slow and all, and should never be used before 6 stacks. It can usually kill 50% health enemies with 8 stacks. Bonesaw and sorrowblade synergze very well with eachother and spectral smite and its passive.
The best(and worst) allies for krul Top
Krul has some really great allies; he also has some very terrible ones. Here are the do's and don'ts allies for Krul.
The good~
~ awesome slow for Kruls initiation(
and more slow), and puts out insane dps againts the very slow enemy
~ if the enemy is overextended and you in a bush while saw is also present, the enemy will die. Saw also has suppresing fire to help you gank and put your slow up even easier
~ Support glaives afterburn will immediatly put the enemy into your deadly 72% slow reach. He almost always can turn a 3v3 into a 3v2 by afterburning the enemy into your undead hands. If the enemy is clumped up, he can hit like a nuke with all 3 of his abilities send one of em into your direction, and will send the rest packing. If he has a warhorn prepare to chase, as your dmr and ult will certainly close the distance and
kill the enemy. Sometimes you may even get the ace just from the last enemy trying to defend against your deadly attack power.
~The bad
Taka in general is just a lackluster hero, his damage is good but krul easily carries, he can't go support he's just to squishy to start with, and he is a farm hog and krul needs farm to be effective. Krul Isint a support so quit bringing taka to the table!
How to play krul Top
The bush is your home. Anything that comes near your bush must be punished! But in all seriousness always look for ganks. When the enemy is past your 50 meter line, signal to your laner that your coming to gank. Always especially midgame hide in the bush for ganking.Be aggressive with anything under a tier 6 according to my hero list up there^, and always take advantage of flares. Anyone by themselves will be dead if your within your vicinity if they stray to close to a bush(impossible not to do in jungle). You can't be beaten 1v1, but never go into a 2v1. Always have a ranged hero such as ringo for backup. When In teamfights always be the initiator, you can taka a lot and with your insane lifesteal and damage they'll prioritize. While your stalking your teammates can and will end it while you just soak up the damage. You can either get an irongaurd contract letting your teammate feed ie glaive while getting lightly less gold and alloting 1 health minion to yourself, or you can feed while another uses an irongaurd contract. I hope this guide helps everyone who reads this play krul successfully, and highlights how good he can be.I will add more to this guide when time permits. Also I plan to make a build on aftershock krul in the near future. Kind regards
~ Manhoef
