2
Catherine Catherine should be your last priority as she is no threat. Focus her last in teamfights. Don't let her stun you or else her teamates can follow up to kill you.
2
Adagio Adaigio's heals should not be a problem because you shouldn't be in range. Watch out for ult stun him or use a reflex block.
3
Ardan You mainly need to watch your dad's ult. If he traps you inside stay at the edge with your teamates. Try to kite the enemy team and run out of there once it's down. If he does manage to stun you, you're most likely dead.
3
Petal Petal's munions can easily be wiped out by Heliogenesis. Be careful of the ult, reflex block to negate the damage.
4
Glaive You only need to worry about Afterburn with Glaive. Use flares or scout traps so he can't gank you.
5
Joule You only need to worry about rocket leap. Don't get caught. Sidestep her ult or stun her.
5
Skaarf Skaarf is reliant on skill shots so avoid them at all costs. Stay away from your teamates if you get hit. Focus him first in teamfights.
6
Celeste May the best Celeste win. It's about skill and build, I have won several Celeste fights because prioritizing survivability first then damage will make you deal enough damage in a fight. Your weakness is hers so exploit it.
6
Ringo A skilled Ringo can be a troublesome match for Celeste but a skilled Celeste can go par in par. When Ringo pokes you with Achille's Shot, look at your health and decide whether to poke back with Heliogenesis. Late game you have more damage with AoE abilities but Ringo's single target damage is huge. Focus him first to get him put of teamfights.
6
SAW Saw's damage output can be devastating if played correctly. When Saw misses Spin Up, punish him by using Heliogenesis or a Supernova. Stun him when you have stacks. Run from his ult or get out of his range. Roadie Run can kill you if you have low health so be careful. Never underestimate his damage output.
6
Fortress Be wary of Fortress ult as it is used as a scout by tank builds. Don't let him mark you by staying behind your teamates. If you bleed you are most likely dead since they are like Krul's smite stacks.Punish him in the early game when he's weak. Avoid if he's building tank.
7
  No Threat
8
Vox Vox is a hard match for Celeste because of his mobility. Try to predict where he's moving and don't stand too close to poke him. He has a tradeback with Sonic Zoom. Try to harass him early with his short range. Lategame focus him but beware of your positioning and your teamates'.
9
Koshka Koshka is dangerous for any carry. She has a gapcloser and stun so make sure yo stay on the end of fights. If she does catch you, you're dead. Use scout traps, flares and Heliogenesis to avoid ganks.
9
Taka Taka is also as deadly as Koshka but as Celeste you can counter his only escape. Use a basic attack on Taka if he tries to run, your teamates can lock him down and kill him. Use scout traps, flares and Heliogenesis to avoid ganks.
9
Krul Krul can beat anyone in a 1v1 so always ask help from your teamates. Krul's Deadman's rush can easily give him more health and is used as a gap closer. Don't let him get his stacks as they will reduce your damage and will slow you. Use scout traps and flares to avoid being ganked.

Introduction Top

Welcome to the Guide!

Hello, this is my first guide on VaingloryFire. I have been playing Celeste as my main in the lane and she has been my favorite laner so far. I wanted to contribute to the site and decided to make a Celeste guide. I wish to improve this guide so reviews are really aprreciated. :)

About Celeste Top

Celeste for those new to her:

Celeste is a high artillery mage that requires prediction and positioning to use her to the fullest. All of her abilities require you to predict the enemies movement so make sure you can predict your enemies well. Celeste is very fragile leaving positioning to be a must because being caught out of position means death.

Why to choose Celeste

Celeste is one of the heroes that can deal a lot damage constantly but at the price of being squishy and requiring good prediction. Learning Celeste gives you better prediction as all her skills require it and a better idea of your positioning. If you can position correctly and predict the enemy then you can poke and kite efficiently with Celeste.

Celeste's Abilities and How to use them Top

Julia's Light:
Celeste's basic attacks are spells, dealing crystal damage with a crystal ratio. Celeste's basic attacks also briefly reveal enemy heroes.

Celeste's Heroic Perk really adds to your damage and especially useful when chasing. If you're too far behind your target using an auto attack will reveal them for you and your teamates to block his escape. Try mixing auto attacks with Heliogenesis for a good damage output if you're in range. Do not risk being too close that the enemy can stun you or use a gap closer to kill you.
Heliogenesis:
Celeste forms a small star at a target location, dealing crystal damage to nearby enemies. The star will briefly linger on the field. If Celeste uses this ability on an existing star, the star will go supernova, dealing more crystal damage in a larger area.

This is Celeste's main source of damage and vision. Use Heliogenesis for harass in the early game as you have to save mana. Only use it for farming if you can kill multiple minions at once. As Celeste, you use Heliogenesis in bushes to avoid getting ganked by the enemy. When teamfights occur place your stars in the middle of the enemy team so all of them receive damage. You can place your stars around the whole fight to prepare supernovas since you should have a Void Battery or an Eve of Harvest by now. By lategame use it in bushes to find the enemy team. Your damage can even hurt tanks a lot so don't be afraid to use Heliogenesis on them. Beware of the delay of the casting time.
Core Collapse:
After a brief delay, the target location collapses and nearby enemies are stunned and take crystal damage.

Celeste should only use this ability as a means to escape or to stun enemies at strategic times. Never use this ability for damage, the enemies are more likely to step out and you will have to wait for its long cooldown. You can stun enemies if they're chasing you for distance, put the Core Collapse where the enemy will be in a second since like Heliogenesis it has a delay.
Solar Storm:
Celeste launches a storm of stars that travel across the world. The lead star passes through all enemies it hits, dealing crystal damage. Trailing stars collide with the first enemy they hit, dealing crystal damage in an area. The number of trailing stars increases each time Solar Storm is upgraded. Deals reduced damage to non-heroes and does not damage structures.

You should use Solar Storm in 3 situations: To finish off fleeing enemies, if you are low health and have an Eve of Harvest use Solar Storm to regain health, if you can get Solar Storm point blank on the enemies. Solar Storm is one of the few global ults in the game. You can maximize this by finishing off enemies and if you are out of range use Solar Storm to kill them. Sniping enemies with Solar Storm is not recommended for those new as it takes a lot of practice to predict where they are going and if you need to use your ult or not. Using Solar Storm for regaining health is not a bad idea, when you are low on health and think you can't go back to the fight launch Solar Storm to deal damage and recover health(a 2-for-1). To maximize it's damage you can use Solar Storm in point blank range if enemies jump on you. This can deal almost half their health and you can finish them off with your teamates. Try to analyze when you should use Solar Storm or else you'll miss an opportunity or waste it.

Items and Why to Buy Them Top

Eve of Harvest:
Eve of Harvest gives 20% lifesteal, 65 crystal power, 250 energy and 5 energy recharge. In my opinion this is a better choice than Clockwork. The lifesteal is beneficial when you need to still join the battle but can't as you can regain your health. The energy it provides is sufficient enough and the more crystal power on Celeste the better.
Shatterglass:
Shatterglass is necessary if Celeste wants to deal damage. The 150 crystal power can be used to the max by Celeste with her basic attacks and abilities relying heavily on crystal. Building up a lot of crystal can make her a monster late game as no one can completely negate the damage.
Frostburn:
Frostburn became more useful now with it's 100 crystal power and passive slow. This makes Frostburn a great item with heroes that use a lot of crystal power or those who needs the slow. You can rush Frostburn if you are behind as surviving is more important then pure damage.
Broken Myth:
The new Broken Myth works nicely with Celeste since it gives 10% shield pierce and 70 crystal power but what's special is the passive. Broken Myth's new passive amplifies all crystal damage by 10% for each second you're in combat with the maximum 3 stacks. It allows you to have up to 600 damage with Heliogenesis and 900 with supernovas. It is good against enemies with lots of shield and even if they aren't building shield you should build this as your 4th crystal item if you make it that far in the game.
Aegis:
Aegis is good against enemies with lots of crystal power because of the shield. I usually prefer this over Crucible because of the additional stats to not only shield but armor and health.
Journey Boots:
I advise to not rush Journey Boots since you will need crystal power or defense in early to midgame. During lategame you should buy this if you need the sprint of speed more often with the cooldown being 50 seconds. I advise upgrading it last since travel boots should just be fine.
Metal Jacket:
You should buy this if the enemy is majority weapon damage. Be warned though because you don't have a reflex block to negate stuns.
Crucible:
Crucible should be bought if you need a reflex block for the whole team. It's the most useful for AoE ultimates like Adagio Ultimate Verse of Judgement, Ardan Ultimate Gauntlet, Celeste Ultimate Solar Storm, Petal Ultimate Spontaneous Combustion.
Fountain of Renewal:
You should use Fountain if you and your team are constantly on low health. The active is nice when enemies used all their abilities since your entire team can regenerate health. Try to time when to use the active, it's best when you are low health but try not to be too late that you will still die.

Why I do not use these Items:
Aftershock:
I don't like Aftershock for Celeste since in every fight you can't weave basic attacks in between Heliogenesis. Aftershock is best for the bursty or tanky heroes and your kit is designed on more constant damage.
Alternating Current:
I do not like this item on Celeste because I find attack speed hard to utilize with Celeste. The passive of Alternating Current is pretty much your Heroic Perk Julia's Light so I don't really like this item on Celeste. I think it will work with a stutter stepping Celeste weaving Heliogenesis with basic attacks but you will have to be near the battle which in my opinion is too big of a con since everyone will target you.
Clockwork:
I usually find Cooldown Acceleration unnecessary on Celeste because of the very short cooldown on Celeste's Heliogenesis. The energy of Eve of Harvest is usually enough and the lifesteal is more useful in battles. If you plan on spamming you ult then you can get this item.
