Where'd I find this build? Top
I came across this build while watching the Korean Summer Championships on Twitch. The champions of the tournament ran this CP Taka build twice, and I thought it was a very interesting idea. The Stormcrown WP build was run quite often in this season's Summer Championships.
Why Stormcrown for CP Taka + Philosophy of the build Top
As we all know, CP Taka is extremely dangerous and extremely fun to play, however, getting him to the late game where he is very potent is not very fun. CP Taka's jungle/objective clear speed is extremely inefficient, making it easy for the enemies to snowball you before you even become a relevant threat in the game. So, why a Stormcrown? For me, there are three reasons:
1) Jungle/objective clear speed: A stormcrown helps so much with this aspect of CP Taka. Normally his jungle and objective clear speed is insanely slow, but a stormcrown helps speed it up a TON. In fact, it helps so much, that you can even keep up levels of aggression similar to that of a WP Taka, and contest jungle camps or even get kills in the enemy jungle during the farming phase of the game.
2) Energy + cooldown: These are two things that are extremely important to a CP Taka. Without energy, you can't do any damage, and without cooldown, you won't be able to do enough damage during a teamfight. While you don't get extra energy with a stormcrown, you get extra energy regen, which can definitely make a difference in a fight. Furthermore, with the cooldown reduction, you can do more damage more often!
3) Extra bit of tankiness: A stormcrown actually provides decent health (+350)! This is why I only use one defense when running this build, because the stormcrown acts as a "second defense".
Late game, CP Taka's damage is great. Therefore, your goal is to farm and get to the late game where your power is at its height. From there, do your damage combos (don't forget to proc your Aftershock twice), get out with Kaku, then rince and repeat.
Shatterglass or Alternating Current on CP Taka? Top
Personally, I prefer the Shatterglass, though often times a game ends before you have enough gold to get one. I think that this is the best option because the amount of pure amount of CP you receive, which gives a huge boost to your abilities. I've seen some people choose Alternating Current because it is something you can build the Swift Shooter into. However, no matter what, if you aren't going for a Shatterglass, I always suggest you go for an Alternating Current instead. It gives pretty decent CP, provides a little extra boost to your basic attacks, and most importantly, gives you great attack speed to help your farm/objective clear along with the Stormcrown. If you're thinking about a Frostburn, why not wait for just 400 more gold for a Shatterglass? Plus, you're so mobile anyways, the slow isn't worth much to you. I hope I don't have to explain why Eve of Harvest would be a bad choice, and a Clockwork would be
decent, however you're already getting 55% cooldown reduction from your Stormcrown and Aftershock, so it really isn't necessary.
Why Stormcrown for WP Taka + Philosophy of the build Top
WP Taka is extremely effective in the early to mid game, but falls off late game. This build is no different. The Tension Bow is your main offensive item (and really, only offensive item), but as long as you're snowballing with it, its damage will be more than enough for you to secure kills. With this WP Taka build, the Stormcrown's only purpose is to increase farm/objective clear speed along with its other effects as an added bonus. The combination of these two items will allow you to clear jungle and objectives
extremely quickly. The early to mid game damage of the Tension Bow (and little extra boost from Stormcrown) along with the extremely fast clear speed of the Stormcrown allows you to easily secure kills, contest jungle camps, clear objectives, and snowball into an easy victory.
Also, I'm sure that you've noticed that after the Tension Bow and Stormcrown combo, you build support items. This is because no matter what, as WP Taka, your damage is going to fall off, but the support you're building allows you to keep your lane carry alive during teamfights, thus making you relevant even in late game fights. Once your damage begins to fall off, your goal is to X-Retsu in and apply Atlas Pauldron, get out, and then defend your laner. Peel for the laner as much as possible, and use your Fountain and Crucible to make sure he stays alive. As long as you keep your laner alive in late-game teamfights, you should still win teamfights despite your lack of damage. However, your mean goal is to try and win as early as possible, before your damage begins to fall off in the first place. Invade early and often, contest your opponents' jungle camps, and take objectives quickly to snowball similarly to a SAW.
Side note: You should be infusing fairly early (around level 10 and from there until the end of the game). ALso, though I've never done it myself, rumor has it that this Taka build can Solo Kraken (with a Weapon Infusion, of course). If this is true, this could be a huge deal to your team!
