Reim is a mage unlike any other in Vainglory. He is the first of his kind, a so called "tanky mage." Vainglory has classified Reim as a jungler, and I have not had time to test lane Reim yet, I will base this guide on a jungle Reim. Reim has immense potential, with a huge damage output, sustain, tankiness, and crowd control, at the expense of mobility. I will continue to update this guide as the meta changes or Reim is changed, indirectly or directly.
If you are familiar with
Celeste,
Reim is extremely similar in playstyles and strengths. Both are best when played from a distance, but
Reim has a higher tolerance for close combat because of his innate tankiness. Reim's damage will come mainly from his abilities, specifically
Winter Spire and
Valkyrie. Reim's passive,
Frostguard, grants him a ton of sustainability and tankiness, so you can play him with a bit more aggressiveness than a traditional mage, like
Celeste or
Skaarf.
Reim's A,
Winter Spire, is his bread and butter. Not only does it scale incredible well with Broken Myrh and Frostburn, but it allows you to both poke and deal huge amounts of damage. Try to predict where enemies will walk so they will have to walk into an exploding crystal. It's Celeste's supernova, except better!
Reim's B,
Chill Winds, is excellent in 1v1 and 2v2 confrontations. After landing a
Winter Spire on an enemy, immediately use
Chill Winds to insure the crystal will explode on the Emmy, dealing tons of damage. You can also use this ability in lane to catch an enemy off guard for a solo kill. However, make sure you opponent is chilled before using
Chill Winds!
Am I the only one who wasn't expecting a sword to drop from the sky when I used this ability? Anyway, Reim's C,
Valkyrie, deals
immense damage. Make sure you have full Broken Myth stacks before using this ability for full effectiveness. It also helps if your enemy(ies) is rooted before smiting them with a freaking sky sword.
