Intro Top

Hi guys. This is my first ever built guide so forgive me if I am not ver thorough. Samuel is the newest addition to the VG roaster and many of us are still getting to know him. This build is not suppose to be the 'archetype' but it is something that is working for me. Enjoy.

Early Game Top

The first item you shop is going to be the deciding factor of how you will play. Take Crystal Bit if you are jungling. If you are laning, i suggest an Energy Battery instead and start with your "B" ability to harass the opponent. The reason you cannot depend on your "A" ability for poke is minions. Your ability lands on the first target it strikes so it is a pain when your opponent laner uses the minion as body block. Samuel is highly agile for a mage, use advantage of his "A" abilty to get some good pokes. You can even use your "B" to feign an attack. Especially when you are baiting gankers out of the brush. Simply send the "B" abilty forward towards the enemy turret and follow it. The gank will spring and you being ready for it can swiftly turn the other way and blast them on the face with your "A". But dont overestimate your damage potential yet. Be wary of your low health pool. Don't be afraid to engage, but don't let the thirst of an easy kill put you in a pincer move. Avoid 1v1 with high mobility heroes or ranged. You may engage heroes who rewuire skill shots like Skaarf. You have the abilty to move while casting...they don't. Take advantage of that.

Mid game Top

By now you should have your travel boots and your altering current with maybe a crystal bit. Try to keep a few potions to restore energy if you were too trigger happy with your abilities or your skillshots were just not working out. The alternating current is a priority and i will explain why. Your "A" ability is your bread and butter...but when fights break out in lane, and it will, your "A" ability will hit the minions who are aggressively attacking you. So all your damage potential is gone due to some small blip in the map that you didn't keep an eye one. The Alternating Current gives you enough power to dish out respectable damage. It can even come handy to clear out minion waves before the you engage your abilities in a fight. Besides, the extra attack speed and the boots help you kite. And add your passive becomes a heavy hitter. You are not ready to be a badass yet i am afraid.

Late Game Top

With the broken myth at your disposal...now you are a bad ***...if you can prolong the fight. You can swing around flanks. Use your "B" ability to carpet your enemies flight path and use your "A" to chase and finish off carries. Your ULT is a flexible tool. Use it wisely. When you engage, and you are getting the upper hand, drop the ULT behind the enemy so that they are forced to fight or get shut down. If you are losing however, place the ULT a little ahead of your flight path to form a wall. If an assasin jumps you...land it on your feet, and when he sleeps run away. If the assasin chases you, use your "B" ability to empower your "A" as you strafe away. Mix up your basic attacks and abilities to maximize damage. Build defense items against heroes that can dive to you and chase you. For the other heroes, your speed and mobility should be enough.

Situational items Top

Frostburn: A nice item to kite around enemies and keep them at bay. Provides decent amount of CP too not to mention securing kills on those pesky lightfooted heroes like koshka

Eve of Harvest: Take this only if you are having trouble staying alive in fights and need the extra sustain

Shatterglass: You must be one mean killing machine to want shatter glass with the broken myth. Be sure to use your abilities to take full advantage of the extra CP. Its power adding to the alternating current is a bonus.

End note Top

Samuel is an interesting hero that you can have tons of fun with. But he may take a little getting used to since his "B" ability cannot be controlled once launched so you may lose or win a game by just where you decide to launch your ability. As Samuel you control the tempi of the game. He excels with heroes that have crowd control to keep him safe and also to keep the fight within the perimeter of his "B" ability. Ranged heroes are ok too. Since Samuel can use his abilities to execute parthian shots. I hope you enjoyed this build.
