Early Game: Carry Build Top
The best thing to start with as a Carry Idris is a Crystal Bit, an Oakheart, and a Halcyon Potion. The first time you go back make sure to get boots and start towards a Frostburn, then an Alternating Current, unlocking your ranged path, and then a Reflex Block. The first ability you should get is Chakram. At level 2 get Shroudstep. Start the game with your Captain and have a team fight near the center. Focus on landing your Chakram on enemy heroes and jump and retreat with your Captain. Make sure to play it safe. Upgrade Chakram at level 3 and 4, upgrade Shroudstep at level 5, and upgrade Shimmer Strike at level 6, and upgrade it whenever possible. At level 7 upgrade Chakram again and at level 8 upgrade it one last time to get the overdrive. During this time. You should be in the lane focusing on last hitting and sometimes jumping the enemy and shooting your Chakrams.
Late Game: Carry Build Top
As you and your team approach level 9 and start to further develop their builds you should start to team fight with your team. Upgrade your Sprint Boots to Travel Boots for extra speed, upgrade your Reflex Block to Aegis for some extra much needed protection, and get a Sorrowblade to also get the weapons path. At levels 10 and 11 upgrade Shroudstep to increase your mobility. This goes along with your Sorrowblade turning your Shroudstep into a teleport. With this build try to kite enemies and bait them into starting a full on team fight. When your Captain attacks them you should throw your Chakram. Right before it's going to return to you use Shimmer Strike to make the Chakram return to you and hit enemies a third time. This also acts as a way to engage quickly. Right before the Chakram is about to return again jump away a bit to make it bounce a fourth time. At this time one of the teams is most likely retreating, and hopefully it's the other team. If it is then when the Chakram is about to return use Shroudstep to get to the other side of the enemies and the Chakram will hit a fifth time. Then alternate between moving and doing one basic attack and then move again. Try to keep up with the enemy team and chase down as many of the enemies as you can. If it is your team that is running act like your running too. They will naturally chase you. Tell your team to turn and attack and drop everything else they have left, and you should dash to the other side of them with your Shroudstep and have the Chakram hit a fifth time. Then go all in with your team and you might be able to win the fight. Note that if one of your heroes is dead and the other team isn't heavily damaged then it's smart to just try to get away so they won't ace you. The last thing to buy is a Tornado Trigger to increase your attack speed and either War Treads or Journey Boots. If you have a Captain she such as Lyra, Adagio, or any other ranged Captain that heals you, then you should get War Treads for the extra health. However, if you have a Melee Captain then get Journey Boots so you can run, attack, and react faster.
When Idris Works Best (Carry) Top
There are going to obviously be slight changes to your build based on your team and the enemy team. There are many heroes that Idris works well with. One is Lyra. Lyra can stay with Idris to help him be more mobile and heal him, which can be flaws for Idris. They can also combo their abilities very effectively. Lyra can use her teleport to help reposition herself and Idris, and help Idris keep is Chakram going for longer. Lyra also helps in the early game for laning. Being a Melee Carry in the lane can be very hard, even with your Captain there to help you. Lyra helps Idris because she is a ranged hero. Ranged heroes are generally Carry heroes but if you have an Idris as the Carry then in the early game you will have no ranged heroes. Another good teammate to a Carry Idris is Adagio for similar reasons. Adagio can heal Idris allowing him to stay on the field for longer. He also covers the weakness that teams with Idris as the Carry don't have range in the early game. He is also very good at locking down the enemies so Idris can land his attacks more effectively. Finally, he can give Idris his Basic Attack buff to increase his damage significantly. Jungle heroes Idris works well with are good at engaging and disengaging and have good crowd control. Some examples are Joule, Krul, and Petal. Some good team examples with Idris as the Carry are Idris, Joule, and Adagio, and Idris, Lyra, and Krul. Petal, on the other hand, can open up a whole new world for Idris. Since she is a ranged Jungler with good movement and damage, she can allow you to have Melee Captains. Some good examples of tanks that work well with this combo are Catherine, Ardan, Phinn, and Lance. When it comes to Idris, mobile auto-attackers such as Ringo, Skye, and Vox, can be a huge problem. If you let the, attack you they can melt your health faster than you can melt their health. On the other hand, Idris works well against attackers with lots of skill shots that can be escaped with Shroudstep and people who can be kited. This includes Joule, Catherine, Lance, Ardan, Baron, and Skaarf.
Early Game: Jungler Build Top
In the early game get a weapon blade to get extra damage and get boots to increase your mobility. Getting a Halcyon Potion is also recommended so that you can heal if you ever get into trouble. With this build it is recommended to primarily do the jungle. You should start by getting Chakram, and at level 2 getting Shroudstep. At level 3 get a chakram upgrade, and at level 4 and 5 get Shroudstep upgrades. At level 6 get Shimmer Strike, and try to upgrade the ability whenever possible.Start the game with a team fight as usual and try to land good chakram hits. Make sure to have boots so you can escape if the battle turns against you. If the Captain is with you in the jungle then go to the four camps on your side of the map and then go to the lane and fight there until the jungle monsters respawn. Keep doing this until four minutes at which point you should take a stop at the jungle shop. If you don't have enough to get the Sorrowblade item then go back once you can to get the item, unlocking the weapon perk. If the captain stays in the lane you should focus on getting a level advantage in the jungle and going to the lane for short periods. Take stops at the jungle shop at the same times.
Late Game: Jungler Build Top
Once you get Sorrowblade, Reflex Block, and Travel Boots start spending more time in the lane and a bit less time in the jungle. Get Shiversteel and use it to slow your opponents while attacking and get Tornado Trigger to increase your attack speed. Then get Journey Boots and Aegis so you can move faster and have better defense. Get the overdrive for Shroudstep by level 8 and try to be as mobile as possible. At this point you should be staying with your team and team fighting. In a standard fight you should try to stay behind your Captain and try to get a good engagement opportunity. If the Captain engages shoot your Chakram and when it's about to come back use your Shimmer Strike to engage. If you end up finding a better angle to attack from make sure to tell your team so they are ready to help. Throw your Chakram and use your Shimmer Strike to get the Chakram to bounce again. In both scenarios you are fully engaged and should be prepared to use all resources available to defeat your opponent. When the Chakram is about to return again jump back and start basic attacking their Carry and activating your Aegis and Shiversteel. When the Chakram is going to return again jump to the other side of the enemy. Try to dodge a powerful area ability with this if possible. If the enemy team runs then chase them down and try to get as many kills as possible. If you are to retreat then start running. Either keep running or turn and attack with your Chakram and try to flank with Shroudstep. Make sure to be careful while doing this and not charge in alone. If you follow the format of this team fight you shouldn't have to run anyway. As you approach the end you should then get Breaking Point which will significantly increase your team fight capabilities. At this point you should always be with your team, and if you are mobile then you should be able to deal massive amounts of damage to the Carry.
When Idris Works Best (Jungler). Top
The main thing you need to do when playing this build is to be careful. Remember, dead dps deal no damage! Idris works best with heroes that have lots of crowd control. Some Captains include Catherine and Ardan. These are great choices because they can protect you well and have good crowd control abilities. Catherine has a stun with a short cooldown which is good for engaging and a silence. Ardan has his ultimate which creates a giant perimeter around him. If your enemies are caught in this you can knock them down fast. One of the best Captains with Idris is Lyra. She can heal Idris which really helps, slow enemy heroes, speed Idris up, and allow him to teleport, not only for movement but also for comboing his Chakram. He is good with Carry heroes that have stuns and good burst damage and sustained damage such as Ringo, Gwen, Skye, and Vox.
