Introduction Top
Learning Joule
Joule is a somewhat tanky melee fighter, able to instantly kill squishies in late game, when playing Joule
, you have to have good prediction skills. Her second ability, Thunder Strike
is amazing with aftershock
's passive. This guide was mostly made through Jungle Joule experience. Works in lane, too.
Abilities Top
So, you want to play Joule. First thing to you to note is that Joule is pretty hard. If you feel that you aren't too good at mechanically hard heros, stick with Ringo
or something.
Slot A: Rocket Leap
Holy **** this is amazing. It can help you position, gank, insec, and more.
Rocket Leap: You literally leap onto the enemy. Because this is vainglory, enemies don't die when a huge machine drops on them (seems legit). When a location is selected, a circle appears to show where you will land. If you land directly on them, they are stunned and take full damage. If you land near them they take 33% damage and are knocked away.
TL;DR
Direct lands stuns and this can help you reposition
Slot B: Thunder strike
This is your main damage ability. It is basically spammable with a 3 second cooldown in late game. When you land it, your future basic attacks penetrate 10% of the enemy's armour.
Slot C: Big Red Button
This ultimate. Holy ****. This is the reason I gave my guide its name. Its base damage 750/1350/1950 AND 520% OF CRYSTAL? This is OP. Imagine getting one shatterglass. You will do an extra 1500+ damage. Tell me this isn't insane. Use this when the enemy team is lined up, in a Ardan
ult, or when someone is chasing you/your teammates in a straight line. Also good for stealing objectives.
TL;DR
Your ult is OP. Kill everything.
How to play Joule Top
Tips for lane:
When you play Joule, remember, your early game is weak, unless you are really fed from early game teamfights. Start by poking the enemy laner. Oddly, Thunder Strike
can hit slightly further than its shown range. Use that to your advantage and poke the hell out of them.
TL;DR
Poke like facebook when it was popular, thunder strike
is longer than the shown range. If laning, low elo matches almost always have Ringo
in them. It's good to know that Thunder Strike
has a slightly longer range than Ringo
.
Mid game Top
Mid game, you should have aftershock. Alternate your attacks and abilities for aftershock proc. Ult fleeing enemies at half hp or below. Get fed easily :).
Rank 2 ult, you should have at least 100 crystal power. Pissed at that enemy jungler? Ult = win.
TL;DR
Make plays with ult. Base damage = win.
Late game Top
Step one: Watch Destroy them with lazers by knife party.
Step two: Knock enemies into your team with Rocket Leap
.
Step three: Position and ult.
Step four: See that enemy krul trying to solo kraken? Ult him.
Core needs
Aftershock
Usr aftershock to shred tanks, shred turrets, basically rip your enemies apart.
How to use aftershock 101: Whenever you use an ability, the next autoattack will deal an extra 15% of target's hp as damage. Thunder Strike, Aa. Combo done.
Shatterglass
Just crystal dmg. Not much. Makes ult scary.
Alternating Current
Works well with aftershock. Sometimes, you might wanna spam autos for the sweet damage. It is also amazing since Thunder Strike's
CD scales with AS.
Teamwork! Top
While Joule's ultimate may seem overpowered, it is always good to have synergy with the other friendly heroes.
GOD TIER
Ardan
I love playing with an Ardan support. natural tankiness, movespeed buffs, amazing ultimates. Doing bad? Wait for that god Ardan ult
and just ult in. Garunteed at least two kills for your team.
Catherine
That Catherine who does well will come. Wait for stun and ult. Amazing synergy if you can chain the stuns. Especially good when against Taka and other slippery stuff.
Conclusion Top
Well done. You have read this guide. Urm.. You were expecting more?
Sorry if this guide is a little short. I play LoL too much, so sorry if you don't understand some terms.
Since you've read this, have fun wrecking some scrubs in late game. Make the enemy tank feel like a squishy and make their laners and squishy junglers feel like they are getting oneshot.
I'm still touching up on the guide, and I'm not done yet, so feel free to comment on how I can improve.
:)
