If you don't know about Adagio's perk, then you don't know how to play him. Arcane Renewal makes it so any enemy who has arcane fire on them will regenerate energy for
Adagio. How? By taking damage from ANY SOURCE. That means everything, from munions to turrets. So, if you use his healing ability, which is what sets enemies on fire, you will have a good source of energy.
Secondly, don't expect to be the best player on your team with Adagio. He is a team player and can't do anything without a team for him to support. Don't try and go solo and expect to win!
Overview of Abilities Top
Gift Of Fire
This is what makes Adagio the great team player he is: healing. This ability can be used to heal any and all allies, excluding turrets. This means you can heal players, minions, and even the Kraken! Not only that, but it sets enemies around the healed entity on fire, which is what his heroic perk depends on. REMEMBER THAT IT SETS THE ENEMIES AROUND WHOEVER YOU HEAL! That means if you heal a minion in the middle of many enemy minions, it doesn't matter if your close to them, as long as he is. Keep that in mind when you and a fellow team member are kiting a player, as you can heal the one closest to your target.
One very important thing about this ability is that it can slow enemies when Adagio uses it on himself. Why is that crucial? Because it can determine if you win or lose a duel! You can heal yourself while being chased, slowing down your attacker and allowing you to heal and escape. It also is useful when you're kiting someone, as you can slow them down and go in for the kill. A personal favorite of mine is when you gank in a bush, and then your teammates can force a guy near you. You come out, slow the enemy, then take him out. This is especially useful for assassins like
Koshka or
Taka, as they depend on fleeing.
Agent of Wrath
This ability is what makes Adagio a threat, and not just support. You can target fellow heroes and boost their basic attack power for 6 seconds. What's good about this ability is that your target does 50% more damage to those who have arcane fire inflicted on them, and it does even more when Adagio targets himself. So, think of it this way; Adagio rushes in to help his teammate in the lane, and heals his fellow hero. Then, he starts going after the enemy. By now, his Gift of Fire is back, and he uses it to slow his target. He boosts his attack, and takes out the enemy swiftly and cleanly. What's even better is targeting a strong ally, like SAW, and let him do the damage while you slow his target's down.
Verse of Judgment
By this point, you should understand that Adagio's abilities work together, and this one is what closes that up. Verse of Judgement does damage in a wide circle around Adagio, and if you follow the build, the life steal can really help him in sticky situations when the whole enemy team is after him. Now, not only does this ability do tremendous amounts of crystal damage, but it also stuns any enemy who has arcane fire on them. My favorite way to use all of his abilities at once is like so; you rush into battle, and heal yourself as the whole enemy team starts attacking you, which slows them and sets them on fire. Your team is quickly rushing to your aid, and your health is getting dangerously low. Then, you activate your ultimate. The whole enemy team is stunned, at low health, and your team is there. Sounds like the perfect combo for an ace, which I in fact did, and I managed to steal the Kraken from the enemy as well thanks to the ultimate.
Now that you know how to use his abilities, it time to learn where and when to use them. Adagio is defined as roamer, but he should always start in the jungle, UNLESS there are already two junglers. The lane will become your responsibility now, but that rarely happens. So, you fight with the jungler, healing him/her when necessary, but most importantly, you get tons of XP and gold. The Void Battery is essential at this point because early skirmishes are determined by if you have the energy for abilities, especially with Adagio. So, once you access your ultimate, you are ready to go into the lane; that's not to say you can't go to help out the laner if needed. You are very flexible with Adagio, but the jungle is the quickest way to level up and earn gold, so it's recommended.
Once you are in the lane, you should focus on pushing forward and regaining any lost minion mines, when appropriate. At this point, you are the support and should always be with at least one other person, as your abilities are best when working with others.
When the Kraken spawns, you have two options; get the Kraken yourself as a team, or wait for the enemy team to do most of the damage, and then run in and steal. The latter is quite risky, but it reaps great rewards. The enemy will be off its guard, and you'll have more health than them, and they are all bunched up, making your ultimate very useful. The former isn't as risky, but you can still be ambushed by the enemy, but they might not be able to tell. My advice is to get a flare gun, which is necessary if you're against Taka, so you can see where the enemy is. A giveaway is if the lane is empty but you know the other team is alive, which means they must be somewhere that needs the whole team.
This guide is still a WIP, and may have more added to it!
