Official Description Top
Taken from the Official Description:
Celeste lights the way for her team, calling upon her stars for both artillery and long-range reconnaissance. Though fragile, she is well-suited to fighting from the furthest edges of battle.
Heroic Perk: Julia's Light
Celeste's basic attacks have a spell component, dealing 65-115 (level 1-12) crystal damage with a 50% crystal ratio. Celeste's basic attacks also reveal enemy heroes for 1.5 seconds - even after the target leaves vision range.
A: Heliogenesis
Celeste forms a small star at a target location, dealing crystal damage to nearby enemies. The star will briefly linger on the field. If Celeste uses this ability on an existing star, the star will go supernova, dealing more crystal damage in a larger area. Deals reduced damage to minions.
B: Core Collapse
After a brief delay, the target location collapses and nearby enemies are stunned and take crystal damage.
C: Solar Storm
Celeste launches a storm of stars that travel across the world. Stars collide with the first enemy they hit, dealing crystal damage in an area. The number of stars increases each time Solar Storm is upgraded. Deals 50% damage to non-heroes and does not damage structures.
Overview Top
Celeste is an artillery mage often referred to as a 'glass cannon'. Her spammable abilities and quick farming allows her to be a Crystal menace and become the damage dealer for her team. Celeste is best suited in the lane for early gold farming and destroying turrets, but can easily swoop into the jungle and change the tide of battle there as well. I have played Celeste since ICE release and can easily say she is my favorite hero due to her wide versatility anywhere on the map. Let's take a detailed look into how she works.
Heliogenesis Top
You want to overdrive this ability. By doing that, you won't have to worry about purchasing a Clockwork, and can instead focus on Crystal to bolster your damage output.
Heliogenesis works in two parts- first, activating heliogenesis will drop a star on the battlefield. Secondly, re-activating heliogenesis on the existing star will result in it exploding into a high-damage supernova. To effectively use your heliogenesis, make use of your range. Do not be afraid to stand under the safety of your turret if you feel endangered; you are a squishy hero and are vulnerable to ganks. You can even drop a star, run to safety, and explode it in the next few moments if need be. Enemies will tend to avoid wherever you've dropped stars, so you can use them effectively to channel an enemy into another position.
When chasing an enemy, always aim your heliogenesis slightly ahead of your target. You will pause for a split second before activating it, so this helps negate that delay. Do not worry about exploding it, your star does enough damage if you land it directly on your target.
Core Collapse Top
Do not overdrive this ability. Its overdrive, though useful for a little extra stun, does not prove to be as beneficial as doing so for Heliogenesis and Solar Storm.
Unlike your mage counterpart, Skaarf, your secondary does not simply slow- it stuns. This is absolutely crucial, as it allows you an insane advantage over most lane heroes. For example, hiding in the brush and then emerging with a well-timed Core Collapse followed by a heliogenesis is often enough to gain uncontested control of the lane.
Remember: your stun is very important because it lets you act as a support if needed. If you are in the lane and your junglers need assistance, do not be afraid to go down from the lane and hinder the enemy with your Core Collapse. This will often buy your teammates enough time to flee or turn the tides of the fight.
When being chased by an enemy, activate your Core Collapse just ahead of you. The Core Collapse is often difficult to land because there is a slight delay between activation and deployment. Placing it a little ahead of an enemy will most likely allow you to stun them, even if on the outer edge. Tip: Core Collapse will stun an enemy equally no matter where they fall inside it.
Solar Storm Top
Overdrive this ability. Paired with your Crystal items, a well-timed Solar Storm can secure Kraken, an ace, or destroy a fleeing enemy. For this is why we classify Celeste, our hero, as an artillery mage.
Solar Storm works by firing a main star, called the lead star, paired by several following stars. The lead star provides the most damage while the following stars, placed symmetrically on either side, do less. For each additional level of Solar Storm, more following stars are added with an overall damage increase. Because of the following stars being placed symmetrically on either end, this allows for Celeste's ultimate to have a huge, wide range. Not only that, Solar Storm can travel across the entire map, unlike Joule's Big Red Button.
Tips:
Kraken
To successfully steal Kraken using Solar Storm, aim for her when she is around 85-90% taken. Of course, this will vary depending on your distance and how fast the enemy is taking her, but as a rule of thumb do not activate it too early as you will essentially be just wasting it. This is why it is important to keep vision on the Kraken.
Team Fights
When in team fights, stay behind your allies. They need you and all the damage you can provide. To be an effective ally, use your Core Collapse to group your enemies close together, and then fire your Solar Storm into the cluster. Your support and jungle should be able to take care of the rest.
Vain Crystal
Don't.
Concluding Thoughts Top
Treat Celeste as if she was your queen in a chess game- keep her safe, but do not be afraid to unleash her to her full potential. Build Crystal early to buff your abilities. Do not worry so much about Clockwork as your heliogenesis is spammable enough. Build some health/armor, but remember, your primary position will be behind your allies. Use your heliogenesis to frighten your enemies and take control of lane. Use your Core Collapse for crafty escapes and support. And most of all- use your Solar Storm to get the job done.
