Adagio is the most versatile hero in the game and can be played in many different ways. He has incredible team-fight presence, from being able to hold the entire enemy team at a standstill, to life saving heals and powerful damage boosts.
In this build, it focuses on his abilities to slow as well as stun to keep the enemy in battle for as long as possible. By doing this, you are able to shred opponent's armour and stack breaking point. This is as well, aided by his range and the very fast attack speed provided by the items. To explain this further, this build can be used in any situation, whether the enemy builds armour or not. This is because every hero has base armour, so by piercing it, you are able to do massive damage.
Bonesaw
Speed increase and armour shred- Shredding up to 60% of any target's armour!
Kite/Stutter step- Attack, Then Move. Attack, Then Move. Slow the enemy with Gift of Fire and keep attacking
Bonesaw's armour shred not only benefits yourself, it also allows allies to deal greater damage to the same target who's armour has been shredded
Breaking Point
Speed increase and crit chance/power- The longer you stay in battle, the deadlier you become! (The length of team fights increases if you have a tank on the team, as well as Adagio's Gift of Fire slow and the 'stunning' Verse of Judgment when they run away- Use his abilities to keep opponents in battle/range of Adagio as long as possible)
Honestly, with these core items+ a crucible, along with the use of stutter stepping it's almost a burst build. When an opponent comes in to Attack you and then quickly retreats after realising his mistake, he'll be gone as it only take a few seconds to shred armour and kill him with your long range as he escapes. And if the opponent is too tanky for that, catch up to him and slow him with his Arcane Fire; this is where the breaking point takes affect.
Energy?
No, there is no need to buy a
Void Battery. Why? This is because of Adagio's heroic perk restores energy when enemies on fire take damage. This means, often in lane you need to aim
Gift of Fire on an ally minion so his Arcane fire can splash onto nearby enemy minions. Even if you have to walk into the centre of enemy minions to heal yourself so you can still splash Arcane fire, do it! You can run out of energy really quick if you don't do this, so splash Fire onto as many minions as possible and start attacking them (The energy being restored is also aided by the fast Attack speed in the build)
Laning
A good way to stop enemies (or slow down) from earning gold is to heal the minion they are attacking- while also splashing arcane fire onto other nearby enemies to help regen your energy. Also, when your minions are attacking the turret, put the heal on the minion that is being fired upon so that you get as much time to shoot at the turret before you have to retreat. Furthermore, a simple trick can be used in lane to prevent enemy heros from last hitting (example:
Ringo). When the hero is about to perform a last hit, quickly stand on top of the minion. Why? Because when you stand on a minion and the enemy taps that spot, it will always target you (A priority selection). So, after he accidentally shoots you instead of last-hitting the minion, the enemy hero will loose it to his own minions- So he doesn't get the gold. ( +And while you're there, use Gift of Fire on yourself since you are probably very close to the minions now- Then retreat further back)
How to play
The main thing is to kite/stutter step- Keep moving and attacking. Try to get as many hits on the target as possible and always keep moving towards the target- Attack, then move. Attack, then move. With Adagio's armour shred, you can help out an ally by shredding the enemy's armour, so that both of your damage will increase. Another good way to play Adagio is to walk into the centre of enemies (Make sure you have decent health), light Gift of Fire for slow and use your ultimate to stun (Activate crucible if needed) Afterwards, you can shred enemies' armour for 2.2 seconds as well as stack breaking point. Lastly, If you have a Saw/Glaive/Taka on your team, be sure to use his damage boosting skill (
Agent of Wrath) on them.
