Abilities Top
U never know, which one that should be upgraded or take first.
It's better if u know the mechanism of the abilities, and what if that abilities get overdrive first, or why you should upgrade that (because u need more heal at skill A, need more damage from skill B, or need more cooldown etc)
Everything is conditional in this game.
But, this is what i can recommend. Actually, u can save your 5th level point, don't use it to upgrade skill B. Then, when u reach level 6, u can take ultimate skill and upgrade skill A earlier.
What captain supposed to do Top
-buy wide-utility items. U should know why your teams need attlas,shiversteel,etc. Don't spend your gold for an item which u don't need (like build frostburn on flicker,negative effect didn't stack)
-support your team, prefer carry since he is the most damage-dealer in your team.
-body block for untarget abilities like Samuel skill A, etc.
-use items in the right time. Crucible for global negative effect (Catherine silence's, Lance root,etc) or ability that can make your carry dead (Afterburn Glaive, if they can't block it by themselves)
-give vision, never face-check because it will give enemy free stack Breaking Point/BrokenMyth
-Roaming. Let Jungler solo camp if they need more exp from minion (learn about how exp being divided) if it is needed. Don't back to base earlier if there's still so many blind spot at crucial place, etc.
-Try not to kill steal minion and ally. Yes, you still can build item even if didn't farm any single minion (learn about gold trickle,ambient gold,assist bounty)
How can your carry carried you if they have no gold to buy items ? How can you hope they support themselves and carrying you at the same time ? Every role is balanced, if you learn what u should do.
Position at early game in this patch. Top
Captain is still a roamer.
Since 2.0, META is changed. U need to go to lane ASAP after clear your jungle camp once. But, don't forget to give vision by place a scout trap at brush.
The point of captain build is, u need to rush from one item to the next item. What teams need is the function of that item, not make u become a tanker (then, your teams died earlier since u don't give attlas or crucible).
Choose your items wisely.
U maybe need crucible first, but it is possible if u need attlas or warthread before crucible.
But, the point is, fountain is still a most important item even u are pick a healer hero.
At least, take it at your second item after crucible. (If u are a healer and gonna rush crucible first).
There are so many conditional items that can u pick, but u only have 6 slot to support your team. Choose wisely.
U should know what u need.
Build bonesaw if your ally didn't build it and enemy carry/jungler have metal jacket.
Stormcrown if your jungler can't farm well.
Attlas earlier if enemy carry have more attackspeed like they build Blazzing salvo (Tornado trigger, Alternating Current, Bonesaw,Breaking Point).
Shiversteel if your ally (typically warrior) need to being close to enemy.
And so many.
Only 6 slot, choose which one that u need to build ASAP wisely.
Remember, time is also an important part in this game
Perk and abilities of every hero is important too, to make u know what items that u can build.
Like, u can slow your enemy using Adagio by build frostburn and give skill B to yourself, or skill A to random target, u can get more heal too since Adagio heal have Crystal Ratio.
