Threat Hero Notes
1
Petal Mind the ultimate (outrun it) and then clean up the mess.
2
Joule Cannon fodder for you. It is especially fun to run around her ultimate and waste her.
2
Ringo A strong crystal power is rough later and mind the kite.
3
Adagio A crystal power is more dangerous, but overall if you dodge the ultimate, not much of a problem.
4
Koshka Tough early as she out speeds you, but later is really only dangerous if she launches an ultimate on you as part of a gang attack.
4
Krul A strong crystal Krul usually dies before he can build up his stacks. A weapon power is no match at all.
4
Skaarf Besides the ultimate, no big deal.
5
Taka You will take a bit to get up to speed a full WP Taka will give you trouble early, but by end game you take him down before he gets a hit on you.
6
Glaive A crystal power is actually no big deal, but most people go weapon power and then he can nail you.

Catherine A tanked up Catherine will give you fits as you are reliant upon burst damage.

Disclaimer Top

I am new at this. I have been playing for a month and have really enjoyed playing Taka.
This is the build I use most regularly.
I do not play other MOBAs.
I do not crunch numbers to see what is most efficient.
I do have a lot of fun playing Hybrid Ninja, even if I do not always win. Even a losing match is still fun if I play well and stabbity-stab-stab a smug SAW to death at least once.
I know warhorn is an odd item for Taka, but it has been a lifesaver for me in a lot of matches. Plus, the pure creature damage makes farming a breeze.

Early Game: Jungle Farming (level 1-5) Top

The hybrid Ninja is straight offense. As such, in the early game keep your potions stocked and get your Kaku (stealth/sneak/invisibility) ready. How you get your items will depend on team composition on both sides. Taka is like Krul in the lane--Terrible! Stay in the jungle and only venture into the lane for some quick cash or to snipe an enemy. The usual breakdown follow (your team vs. their team).

Solo-jungler vs. solo-jungler: Stay on your side until you have Kaku. Work on Frostburn first and in the middle of that get some boots. By level 5 you should have your first final item and boots and be ready to snipe in the lane if needed or sneak over and see how the competition measures up. Then get Alternating Current.

Dual-jungler vs. solo-jungler: Follow the same as above, but take your teammate with you around the three minute mark and take down the other team's jungler. Once that is done, grab his minion mine at 4 minutes.

Solo-jungles vs. dual-jungler: Consider a different build. Trust me, I am speaking from experience that you will get too far behind in the beginning and stay behind in your development. I suggest a Weapon/defense build.

Dual-jungler vs. dual-jungler: It depends on team make-up. If you have a tank, Glaive or Catherine, stay the course and supplement your income in the lane. If you have another finesse teammate, Koshka or Joule, then teamwork is the name of the game (especially depending on the other team's composition). As such, you will need some early defense so you stay alive long enough to be a good teammate. Work on Alternating Current before completing Frostburn,so you have some sustain in your damage early on.

No matter what, especially early, do not get drawn into uneven battles against you team (1v2 or 2v3). If you can snag a quick kill in the aftermath of a shoot out in the lane do it, but otherwise keep on farming. Until you have your ultimate (X-Retsu) and both Frostburn for the slow and the crystal power) and Alternating Current (for the sustained crystal damage) you are vulnerable in a sustained fight even 1v1. Do not be a jerk and leave your teammates hanging, just use discretion about how fast you engage in a fight. Let a tank initiate if possible and then swoop in for some fast damage. Retreating at this point is totally fine. If you find you are needing to retreat, get your second boots sooner and consider your storm guard banner so you do not have to go all the way back to base to recover.

Mid game: ninja time (level 6-10) Top

Stay alive. You are a journeyman ninja. Lurk in the shadows, pick off the vulnerable, and let the team initiate for you. Use your Kaku to sneak up on people and then a good X-Retsu. Keep your stacks up and score those crits.
Work on Tornado Trigger, finish your war horn (good for speeding to attack and the cool down improvement) and get your boots up to middle or final depending on how the fight is going. Your last item will depend on the game.
In between the stealth kills and occasional team fight, farm away. You need some cash still, so keep getting it. Guard your minion mine and swipe the other one whenever you can.

Late Game: Second row fighter Top

At some point a minute or two before Kraken shuffles his tubby rump up the game shifts to team warfare. Stay with your team. If you have done well, you are fast and efficient at taking on a single opponent. If the game has gone just right you should have a Bonesaw or tyrant's monacle. Sell your warhorn if you need more defense.
Your place in a team fight is to hang back during initiation, sneak past the front line fighters and slit the throats of the ranged fighters or finesses fighters. Watch out for SAW, especially a Crystal Power Saw. Since you are almost, if not, all offense he will kill you in a few shots. If you are fighting a crystal Saw you need either Crucible or an Aegis to take him on.
Notes in no particular order:
-You cannot get Kraken on your own. You are, however, very good at stopping Kraken if the enemy launches him.
-Try to stay away from your base. If you are left on your own, lurk and sneak a kill or two. Let your crit heal and war horn work for you.
-if the other team is not ganging up, get ready for fishing out kills. Pick off a lone wolf, with the possible exception of a well-built defensive Catherine or crystal power SAW. Def Catherine can outlast your burst and CP SAW can seriously just kill you at will.

End Game: Turret Killer Team Player Top

Burst damage from your skills is great at taking down turrets. Hang with your laner and minions and let those skills fly. If the game goes long, consider selling Warhorn or Frostburn for more damage in either Shatterglass or Sorrowblade. Tweak your build to take advantage of their weaknesses.
Patience is key to victory. You are not built for a frontal assault, so don't rush in. You are a team player at this point. Pick off their stragglers, snipe loners and use Kaku to get behind their frontline.
Remember, you are a ninja. Stealth and ambush are the name of the game.
Have fun and remember, never stick to a build that is not working. If they counter build you (big on defense/a lot of crystal burst damage), adapt. Fail to do that and you will lose. Successfully build to exploit weaknesses and victory is yours.
