Hi guys, this is my first guide on Vaingloryfire, my IGN is DayV in the SEA server and I am currently in Simply Amazing. I would like to give a shoutout to CullTheMeek. I remember when I first saw CullTheMeek play Glaive in VIPL Season One. I was mesmerized and in awe of his gameplay. You were the one who inspired me to main Glaive. Ever since then, I have been kicking a** with Glaive and without you CullTheMeek, I bet I wouldn't have made this guide dedicated to you.
I would also like to give a shoutout to my best duo partner, JammV, and also a shoutout to gabevizzle. Gabevizzle, you have inspired my friend to play Adagio ever since he saw you play in VIPL Season One. Me and JammV know that you and CullTheMeek like to pull off the Adagio & Glaive combo and JammV and I loved watching you guys decimate entire teams to nothingness.
And now here we are, JammV has the Tier III skin for Adagio and I have the Tier III skin for Glaive. We both completely destroy opposing teams with this combo just like CullTheMeek and gabevizzle. JammV and I also made a nickname for you guys: Vizzle n Meeks!
Sounds great ey?
Nope, haha!
Anyway that's enough from me. I hope you enjoy this build.
*EDIT* THIS GUIDE WAS ON THE FEATURED WEEKLY STAFF PICKS! THANK YOU GUYS!
Glaive's passive:
Hunt the Weak
Glaive's passive might not be the best passive out of all the heroes but I find that it is only really useful for farming creeps.
Glaive's A ability:
Afterburn
In my opinion,
Glaive is one of the best gankers in the game due to his
Afterburn.
Afterburn is one of his signature moves and one of the most dangerous abilities in the game. It can be used in a variety of ways such as:
- To peel
- To initate a fight
- To leave a fight
- Or to finish an opponent off
There is also a little trick that you can do with this ability along with his other abilities. There is a small window of time in which you can activate
Twisted Stroke or
Bloodsong after an enemy is knocked back by
Afterburn to damage the enemy. To perform the trick, you must activate
Afterburn and find a target to knock back. Then tap on the target and immediately use
Twisted Stroke or
Bloodsong. If you did it correctly, your target will get knocked back and Glaive will perform
Twisted Stroke or
Bloodsong at the same time. If you do it with
Bloodsong, it'll look like the ultimate is out of range but actually it does connect with the target and do damage.
Overdrive this ability first as it reduces the cooldown so it can be used more often.
Glaive's B ability:
Twisted Stroke
This ability resets your auto attack cooldown meaning that you can activate this ability after auto attacking to attack twice in quick succession. In addition, every point in the ability increases your critical strike chance. Make sure to use this ability after an auto attack in order to deal the highest damage possible.
Overdrive this ability when your opponents are all melee heroes or if they are not slippery.
Glaive's C ability:
Bloodsong
This ability also resets your auto attack cooldown, has an awesome passive and looks cool. I only use this ability to:
- Burst down a target
- Finish a target off
- Or deal final damage before dying
Do not use this ability at the start of a teamfight or at the start of a 1v1. And also do not use this ability when you have 0 stacks... please.
Overdrive this ability if your opponents are all ranged heroes and slippery. Make sure to use this ability to finish off opponents that are out of your auto attack range.
Awesome combos to pull off as Glaive
Here are some ability chains to pull off some head spinning kills:
-
Afterburn into a low health enemy and activate
Bloodsong to finish him off. (My favourite)
-
Afterburn a squishy target into a wall and auto attack then
Twisted Stroke and auto attack then
Bloodsong to burst the target down in under a second. (Looks stunning when executed perfectly and
quickly.
