Here we take a look at build items, and their use in game.
CORE:
Tension bow: A prerequisite for Taka. Gives burst attack speed on first hit, which is vital for an assassin. Common method is to wait in bushes, use X-Retsu on enemy hero, use Kaiten to negate the damage of their first defence attack, then hit once, before using Kaku and running away. If the enemy is suitably weakened, Taka could easily kill the enemy using Kaiten to avoid damage bursts.
In early game seek the damage dealer with the highest attack speed to quickly put them out of action, but avoid being outnumbered in team fights because Taka is squishy. The damage dealers which Taka is excellent at locking down are Saw, Celeste, Skaarf and Petal. These are usually also the highest gold earners and killing them successfully prevents the enemy from having a working carry.
Serpent Mask: Since Taka is low health and defence, this is vital in keeping him alive. Combined with his Ki stack life steal, this can generate as much as 200 health per hit. It also is good as a second tier 3 item just to bulk up his weapon damage.
Tornado Trigger: Taka naturally hits mostly critical hits at 5 Ki stacks, but since it takes a while to amp up his stacks, this is good for increasing critical hit chance when he is doing hit-and-run with the X-Retsu, Kaiten, attack, Kaku sequence mentioned above. It also has crazy attack speed which is useful as Taka needs to deal as much damage as he can in the shortest amount of time possible. Long battles usually get him killed.
Bonesaw: In late game, Tension Bow becomes ineffective as it only guarantees 180 additional weapon damage every 6 seconds, and its armour pierce is relatively low. If the enemy is building armour to counter you, make sure you sell Tension Bow as soon as possible to buy Bonesaw. If the enemy don't build armour, wait until after you get Sorrowblade to buy it.
SUPPORT:
Journey boots: As an assassin, speed is essential. Taka needs to be able to escape from battles which turn against his favour. This also helps him run away with Kaku, and provides that extra bit of health which makes him less squishy.
Sorrowblade: Increasing weapon power means more damage which means more kills. Yay! This should be the third tier 3 item because it helps Taka deal more damage in mid- to late-game.
Aftershock: In the beginning, Hourglass and Chronograph are useful so that Taka can use Kaku twice in a battle; once at the beginning to initiate battle and once to escape battle. It also offers energy regeneration. In late game, Aftershock allows Taka to deal a huge amount of damage straight after using X-Retsu to initiate attack, and as Taka should be using Kaiten regularly during battle, this is perfect to deal extra damage and counter tanky builds.
Halcyon Potion: Use this sparingly during early game. It shouldn't be needed too often as Taka can escape using his Kaku in fights he is losing, but sometimes it is vital in saving his life. Once you have Serpent Mask, it probably won't be needed.
