You will have to build WP first to help farm. But this build, neither of your source of damage will be as strong as full build. There is no CP Piercing and There is no WP pierce, you also don't have enough crit nor CD, and you will lack defense unless you don't have Boots.

It is a good replacement of Stormcrown on Taka. Imagine a lesser Sorrowblade that grants you energy better than a SC can. I tried it, Gatorrex tried it. Its great. I did on glaive too. However, in later game, the damage is too low. Therefore SC still better on Taka if you play more passively.

You're a newbie that's all. Captain build support items, not defense items. But most support items are defenses, such as FoR, Crucible, Atlas. Carry buy little to no defense because they rely on Captain to stay alive. Carry have to not feed, Captain have to "protec" when 3v3 breaks out. T5 is a very low tier. Don't blame them only, blame yourself also.

Good off-meta captains are such as Gwen, Baptiste, Grumpjaw, Celeste, Koshka, Krul. Yes support Gwen is surprisingly good. Shakes off Silence/Stun and continue supporting team with slow, vision, and stun + echo. Help chase down targets because if high move speed and help pressure lane/farm in jungle because of high inherent damage. I tried many times in casuals when I meet Instalockers to make them feel the pain of me. But I play seriously and 80%(roughly) win rate with Captain Gwen....

Sorry I'm trying too hard to be a savage. Anyways, you need to learn more about the roles of each member of a team in a match. Captains should not steal farm from jungler/carry unless they let you because if various reasons. If you want to play a high damage/semi-carry captain, use Lance or Grace and build 4 classic support items, 1echo,and 1TensionBow or sorrowblade or shatterglass. This works well with them. SHatterglass for more CC and heal, TB/SB for damage for early game invasion.
