I use this guide (with little modification) and I win my last 6 ranked match in 1.9 using ardan. From not bad gold to decentish silver.

My skill build is lv 1 vanguard and max blood for blood, ult to lv 2 and max vanguard.
My item build is ironguard contract and 2 potion, light shield, stormguard banner, swift shooter, finish fountain, blazing salvo, boots, reflex block, tornado trigger, crucible and last clockwork.
