Throughout this guide you will learn how to play Celeste effectively (In my opinion) within Vain Glory.
This is a Crystal/Chaser build so if you are looking for a jungle/support or a character with high base attack power, you are out of luck! Happy findings, and thanks for reading!
P.S. Feel free to comment recommendations. This build is a work in progress and if you need further info on my build please post in the comments below!
As stated in the beginning of this build, this
Celeste is a chaser. This means that you will constantly be trying to get your opponents to run away and turn their backs. With the items in the build, I will explain how to use some very basic strategies that will help you survive and thrive.
Strategy I: Hit and Run Defense. This strategy involves using yourself as bait, whilst thinking smart. If an opponent underestimates you and charges in only to realize he/she will not be able to kill you, they will likely try to escape. When this happens, follow these simple steps.
#1. Always stand your ground. Do not EVER turn your back on enemies, unless totally necessary.
#2. Before the enemy gets to you, deal as much damage as possible, possibly warding them off. Make sure you keep in mind that by placing the stars from
Heliogenesis behind the opponent can deal extra damage when they try to escape.
#3. As soon as they turn, use
Core Collapse to stun them and continue dealing damage. With
Frostburn and
Journey Boots, you should be able to slow your opponent and keep yourself on their tail.
Game Start: Once spawning within the game we will immediately purchase one
Crystal Bit and two
Halcyon Potions. The initial
Crystal Bit will eventually become a
Frostburn while the
Halcyon Potions will simply be used for regenerative purposes. If you are having problems landing the last hit to achieve gold, I recommend you buy an
Ironguard Contract which gives 30% of what your ally kills it for to you. If you purchase this, simply continue the build normally.
5 1/2 Minute Mark: Within the next 5 1/2 minutes, if your team is playing at a normal pace, you should be able to purchase
Sprint Boots which are great for the chaser build( explained in previous chapter), upgraded your
Crystal Bit to a
Heavy Prism, and purchase a
Void Battery which will later become an
Eve of Harvest.
11 1/2 Minute Mark: If you are new, you may ask how a slower character like
Celeste could become a chaser/hunter who can outpace their opponent and eliminate them. Here is where the fun begins! Within the 6 minutes from the last checkpoint, you should have (as soon as possible) upgraded your
Heavy Prism into a
Frostburn. This is such a great item for it slows enemies who are running away from your character. After
Frostburn is obtained, upgrade your
Sprint Boots into
Travel Boots for bonus speed to chase with. We will also have added an item that we will be holding for a while, the
Chronograph which decreases wait time in between abilities. It will eventually be upgraded into a
Clockwork.
16 1/2 Minute Mark: In the last 5 minutes we should've turned our
Void Battery into an
Eve of Harvest which adds lifesteal, crystal power, energy and recharge, which are all needed drastically in
Celeste's case if she wants to take down a tank. We also should've bought another
Heavy Prism which will later become a deadly
Shatterglass. Yes, there are only two items, but together they have a high price.
21 1/2 Minute Mark: At this point in the game, it is likely a team is showing signs of winning (I do hope it's your's) so you either need to keep pushing for the victory and not get complacent, or work with your team and coordinate so that you may push back the attackers and regain a foothold. No matter which position you are in, the
Shatterglass which you upgraded from your
Heavy Prism will assist you with its large amount of Crystal Power. We also should have turned our
Travel Boots into
Journey Boots so that our chase/escape chances are even better. We need an
Energy Battery too so that in just a few minutes we can get
Clockwork.
25 Minute Mark: The game is either dead even, or one team is struggling to keep up with an onslaught of powered up minions and Kraken. In the last few minutes, you should have combined your
Chronograph and
Energy Battery to receive
Clockwork which further decreases cooldown times and adds max energy/recharge. The recharge will be particularly useful if you are having to take down a Kraken or are chasing an enemy, while the other two perks are a bonus. We Should also have bought a third
Heavy Prism just for good measure.
End Game: If your game is still going on, buy a
Broken Myth for amplifying the Crystal Power you already have. 95% of my games finish before I ever equip
Broken Myth so you shouldn't ave to worry about a stalemate.
