Hello, I'm REDemption and in this guide, I'm gonna show you the strength of [[Samuel]
Samuel is a mage. He got a decent range and a heroic perk passive that can make him a pain to face in lane.
Here I'll try to see what he his capable of. It's not a 100% trustable guide so I'll try my best to see his potential.
Abilities Top
Corrupted Genius Top
Corrupted Genius
Every 6 seconds, Samuel’s next basic attack fires a bolt of dark power at the target, dealing 50-160 (+60% CP) bonus crystal damage. Samuel then draws that power back to himself, restoring 50-160 health and 50-160 energy. The restorative effects are only 25% as effective against non-heroes.
His heroic perk is kinda a harass tool. I can imagine that you should abuse of it. In lane proc that heroic perk if the minions are not body blocking you can use your A then back. Go back to farm wait your passive and then go harass again.
Malice & Verdict Top
Malice & Verdict
Samuel fires two quick shots from his hands at a target location that impact on the first enemy hit. Samuel can move between the shots.
If Samuel is standing inside the field from Drifting Dark, this ability is empowered. While empowered, the shots move faster, travel farther, deal additional damage and burst upon impact dealing damage in a small area. In addition, the cooldown for this ability is significantly reduced.
/!\Something not said here is that the CD is back even you use the
Drifting Dark after you shot your A/!\
This is the poke tool which is kinda similar from other mage heroes. But here we've got a new poke mecanic never seen in VG. So Samuel target a location and WILL ALWAYS focus in that point in comparison to Skye that the target location will always follow Skye.
Drifting Dark Top
Drifting Dark
Samuel creates a large field of darkness that slowly drifts forward, damaging enemies who stand inside it. If Samuel also stands inside, he heals for a small amount for each affected target.
Carefull this ability will not make you tank. The sustain is really poor and should be played arround
Malice & Verdict.
In lane use it to push, not to poke.
Oblivion Top
Oblivion
After a short delay, Samuel summons a phantasm at the target location, which puts nearby enemies to sleep. Enemies inflicted are unable to move or act.
Dealing direct damage to a sleeping enemy with an attack or ability will wake them up.
This is an engager/disengager spell. The duration CC is huge so by an ennemy missplay can be the end of a teamfight but it's kinda predictable.
Gameplay & strategy Top
Early game Top
Try to poke as much as you can when your heroic perk is up.
Farm and push with your spells. If you pushed fast enough you can poke or rotate down.
Mid game Top
You have a lot of damage but you are also really squeeshy.
Poke as a Skaarf/Celeste whould do. Use the A B A A A combo but carefully since you will end up low mana really fast. When you try to use your heroic perk be sure to not get CCed by someone or you will get shut downed really fast.
Late game Top
Same thing as mid game, you have to use your A B A A A and heroic perk whenever it's up. Stack your broken myth. The gameplay is really similar to the Celeste or Skaarf gameplay. Also try to know when their reflex bloc are not up.
Oblivion have also many use. Use it on a dangerous bruiser to turn all into the carry or vice versa. Use it from a long range to engage or if you are in a bad situation use it to escape by making them sleeping.
Build Explanation Top
Due to his kit (similar to Celeste and Skaarf) we can imagine the same build based of a high cristal item.
Shatterglass (or Frostburn to have a lot of utility due to the immense zone of the B and the range of the A) BrokenMyth and Eve as the core item can be a way of playing Samuel. We are still searching a way to make him work.
