Hey, I'm Rom5. Newer to vainglory fire, veteran vainglory player (yes, I understand that PG is a nooby skill tier, but cut a brother some slack aight?). I'm a fairly new Ringo player, but I believe that I have perfected him. After watching a few games with the one and only FooJee, I have taken some tips and bettered my play style.
Ringo is a total Gunslinger. He can deal out lots of damage if you have counter-built against your enemies. However, you have to play the waiting game. If you run into the fray, you will most likely be carted out. Ringo is perfect to slip in to the battle, take a couple high damage pokes against the enemy teams lead damage dealer, and fall back into safety. It is okay to kite your enemies, however
NEVER do this against a
Krul, or other ranged heroes.
Start Ringo off with a book of Eulogies, and 2 potions. (Potions are extremely effective when paired with Ringo and used correctly, more so than with [arguably] any other hero).
Enter the fight, and pick off minions. Whenever you get Ringo's heroic perk activated (next shot will be a critical hit, after last hitting another enemy) try to use it to poke the opposing teams lane man.
[The basis of this Ringo guide is to pair Twirling Silver with potions, using the potion whenever your energy is low, and blasting your Twirling Silver as often as possible. This allows for you to spend most of your money on attack power and shield pierce items, you don't even have to worry about attack speed!]
Whemever you land your critical hit on the opposing team's lane, follow up with an immediate Achilles Shot, and then (if safe) start a Twirling Silver and try to get 1-2 follow up shots in. DO NOT over engage, greedy players are dead players.
You should have full health 70% of the time, or at least above half (from potions and book of eulogies). Go down and visit the shop when your jungle duo is at the bottom level minions, visit as much as you'd like.
ALWAYS KEEP AN EYE ON THE MAP, AND HELP OUT YOUR TEAMMATES WHEN POSSIBLE!!! If you save one of them while in a pinch, they'll love you forever. Plus they truly do appreciate the help with kills, when an aggressive stance can be taken.
Side note: If helping your jungle get a kill, and if there is 0 enemy junglers (or one retreating) take this opporitunity to help steal the other teams farm. (Make sure you don't abandon your first cannon though).
Boots: Buy early, tier two boots aren't a necessity if you feel you can maneuver fine without them.
Tension Bow: Staple Ringo item. I love it as it adds tons of damage to the safe pokes you throw out at the opposing team, I would buy this first.
Book of Eulogies: Buy this at the start, abandon when you are around level 7-8. (Unless you want to build into serpent mask.)
Metal Jacket/Aegis/Fountain of Renewal/Crucible: You should always have at least one defensive item on Ringo. If the other team is strong with WP, go for the Metal Jacket. If the other team is strong with CP, got to go with Aegis. If your team needs extra support, adding in a Fountain/Crucible can never hurt (unless you are terrible at timing them).
Sorrowblade: Another Ringo staple... build this ASAP after tension bow.
The last item that you should get should be attack speed. (Up until now, its slot should be filled with potions). This is when you can decide between one of three options: Bonesaw, Breaking Point, or Tornado Trigger.
Bonesaw: If the opposing team has started to build shield items, go with bonesaw. It shreds through armor, and your team will thank you for it. Most likely this will be what you end up buying, if the game progresses to this point.
Breaking Point: If for some stupid reason the other team builds no shield items (Metal Jacket, Crucible, Aegis, etc.) AND you need to kill one specific enemy very quickly (i.e. if the other team's carry is killing your teammates fast, WP Glaive, WP Taka, CP Koshka to name a few) then go with this. It works best if you have more of a defensive build (two tier three items) as they will keep you in the fight longer, allowing Breaking Point to stack more and deal more damage.
Tornado Trigger: If you are a newbie player and aren't quite accustomed to the raw power of Breaking Point, OR if you are going for more critical chance (i.e. you have at least one Tyrants Monical) go with this. I very rarely will use it, as the other two speed options (imo) are better.
Either message me, or post a reply down below if you have any questions.
Enjoy the shootout:)
