This is one of the most extreme but satisfying Kensei Blitz builds. The skill requirement to use this properly is high, requires practice and can at times deliver inconsistent results depending on your opposition. Where Kensei was built to be a Tank killer, this talent does the opposite. He becomes a Squishy Carry Killer with high mobility.
One thing anyone interested in this build should know, survivability is based soul on COOLDOWN. Kensei's epic talent in unique in that is confers Invincibility after using his B ability. So Naturally the whole point of this build is to maximize the time spent Invulnerable. This poses a unique problem though. Unless the talent is very high (close to, if not MAX) I don't recommend trying this. My advice would be to try this with a minimum or level 7 Epic.
You need to understand that the damage will not come from his primary attacks. It will be Aftershock for most of the round. So you need to keep moving and harassing the target(s) with a flurry of well timed Ability attacks with 1-2 basic attacks in between.
Lastly, if you notice, this build has NO defense. Yes NONE. And yet, done correctly Kensei has one of the highest survivability potential of any character in blitz.
Out the gate Buy a
Spellsword, Aftershock, sprint boots and an hourglass. You should have about $350 left to spend. Out the gate I advise to do some quick farming and purchase a chronograph before you engage if you can help it. You should have about 40% cool down to start which is enough to make you tough to deal with.
Next you will need to shop for a second Spellsword ASAP. This will max your cool down. This point in the build should be easily obtainable in almost every match. This is his CORE build and the main power spike. its fairly cheap to obtain and realistically most times this is where its at.
Now...if the match continues to draw on..the next thing you should do increase his attack speed. This will add his shield perk more frequently to again close the window of vulnerability to receive damage. The NEXT thing you should buys is TWO Blazing Salvo's. At this point most games are close to ending.
For Final Build (feel sorry for whoever goes up against this); Go first for a Poisoned Shiv which will add some Life steal and sustain. LAST item would be Breaking Point. With full build, you are Three times as deadly as you would be with Core build.
Downsides of this Build;
- you need the talent to be high to see its potential.
- Vulnerable to Stun and will die fairly quickly if taking damage from multiple sources
- Very High Skill requirement to execute
Upsides
- High survivability in Target rich environments (you can literally 3v1)
- Very high Mobility
- Low dependence on support characters (most of them can't help you since you will be in too deep)
- Can replace the role of Tank for turrets
- Fairly cheap to hit Main power spike for Max invulnerability
Counters
- Best if this is used to Counter Extremely high damage characters who are highly mobile and have Low health. You will find yourself extremely useful in killing popular picks like Idris, Kestrel, Kenetic, Epic Arden and Saw to name a few. Tanky persistent characters are much less effective. So don't waste time and go 1v1 against a Support spec Lance, Phin, Arden or a high sustaining Krul, Tank Churn, and near max Build Ozo. You may not die easily, but its a waste of your time. So take them on with help.
- A Team with Great Interruption or stun potential will absolutely DESIMATE this Kensei Build. So keep that in mind. Don't go deep into an active turret and try to team kill if there is a Catherine for example. She will stun you and the team will make short work unless you have someone to assist.
Advice
- Using this talent requires great awareness of targets around you. More than anything, in Battle you need to keep track of Targets to use your B on (minions, miner, Turrets, enemy hero's) You might not be able to always finish a single target directly. Sometimes you may need to Bounce your B off a turret to reset the invulnerability time before going again. So ALWAYS, ALWAYS take your B when its up. Priority should be to keeping your Epic up as much as possible.
Good Luck Fellow Blitzers!
