While A.Current seems highly pointless, and is very pointless at end game, it gives you:

• More Smite Damage
• More Smite Burst Heal
• Decent Attack Speed
• More reliable prod that occurs more than T.Trigger Crits
• More Health Barrier
• Adds a little more damage to Dead Man's Rush

The most important part of A.Current is lets you do that extra burst against Reim's Fortified Health or execute a squishy assassin that is usually fleeing.
Against Reim it doesn't hurt to have more health in your barrier and to just finish him off quickly.
