Team Queuing Top
With the latest update 1.0.10, friend list is updated and team queuing is the new trend. I see that many players are still having a hard time finding teammates, so I decided to put this guide together to help.
First, why team queue? Why can't I just jump into the public queue like I have always done before? Why put in the work? Why can't I just be lazy and do it the easy way?
First of all, I do it because
1. it's fun to play with teammates I have gotten to know, and often times love at the forum.
2. It's good to know that my teammates will not AFK, they have good builds and together we will try our best to shatter the vain, it makes me more relaxed when I play
3. It builds relationship with players I want to play with again and again in the future. As you build relationships when you fight along side a friend, they become closer to you, similar to how people get closer when they spend time together, you now have shared experienced that strengthens your friendship. This in turn makes foruming more fun as I now have more friends to play with in battle and also on the forum.
Fun aside, team queuing provides you with an advantage at the beginning of the battle for a few reasons:
1. If you are queuing with a regular forum member, you know that they will most likely be pretty good at the game, know how to have a build, fight with some knowledge of gold mine, when to take the Kraken etc. And if they do AFK? You can always find them at the forum to complain
2. If you are queuing with a known member, you probably know which heroes they like to use, and if they prefer a crystal build or weapon build. It's easier to have good team synergy with players you have some information on.
3. When you queue with forum members, they have higher elo score, and you are more likely to be matched with another team with higher elo scores, which means you are more likely to have teammates who are good players, and also opponents who are very good. You are more likely to be paired with one of the devs when you queue as a team of three, with combined high elo.
You should consider team queuing if:
1. You are sick of your teammates AFKing
2. You are sick of fighting with players who are way below your skill level
3. You are ready to play at the next level, where the battles are more intense and challenging
Note: your teammates might still AFK, but at least you can find them at the forum or facebook and tell them you are upset! :D
It takes some time to set yourself up, but I have found team queuing to change my gaming experience for the better! I am writing this hoping more players will be able to experience what I experienced.
Q&A
Some common questions and Answers, skip the section you already know, this is written to be easy to read!
1. I never team queued before, how do you team queue? Top
-Open Vainglory, click “friends†and then click “team queueâ€
-Once you have a party and you are the captain, press on the “+†to add one or two friends.
-Click on “Public Match†button to start be added to the public queue as a team, and watch as the matchmaker tries to find the most worthy opponent for your team! This usually takes around three minutes depending on what time of the day it is, and who else is playing.
2. But I have no friends! Where do I find users to add as friends? Top
3. I have added 50 or 100 friends, but they are already busy, and no one is available for me to play with! Top
a. Let's do some calculation first. Since each battle can last 20 to 30 minutes, and each battle takes a team of three, that means if you can see that 10 of your friends are available, they are most likely in 5 battles, and you can expect to see two of them become available if you wait about 3-6 minutes. I won't go into statistics here, but the idea is that if you go online for 5 seconds, it's very likely that nobody is available. If you want, you can wait a few minutes until some of these friends finish their battle and try to invite them.
b. More reliably, I find facebook groups to be a good way to see who wants to play and asking for party members, usually I would comment that I also want to play and we exchange our IGN, add each other, and you have at least a team of two or three to party
c. The players who are experienced and been in the forum longer probably have more friends, more invites, and thus less likely to be available. I always add new players as they are usually happy to form a party with you, and more available. What about their skill level you might wonder? I find that most new players who post or are active on the forum has played other MOBA games before, they usually have a decent build and can play at least one character fairly well. Also since the group has lower elo, when I teamed with newer players our opponents are also less fierce, verses when I team with more pro-level players, our opponent is also more pro-level. The matchmaker is getting pretty good at pairing teams, so in the end I enjoy teaming with the newer players as well.
d. If you didn't enjoy teaming with someone, you don't have to team with them again, there's the “decline†option if they ask you to team with them again.
4. Join a line, Palringo, or group. Top
a. There is currently a line group for all players:
download line > search Vainglory > Join
b. There is a Palringo group for all players
download palringo > search “Vainglory†> Join
c. There is a facebook group for all players
https://www.facebook.com/groups/vainglorygame/
d. There is a whatapp group for all players in Singapore
private message @GOD to join
Join the ones you want, these are all good places to check to see who wants to play a game.
5. After the battle Top
a. If you had a good fight, you can post at “Nightly GG†at the forum and mention your home team and enemy team, this helps your teammate and enemy team celebrate a shared good experience, and build relationship with the good players in your home team and also your enemy team.
b. If you had a bad fight, think about what you can learn from it, and how you can do better next time, but also understand that sometimes things just don't go your way! If the enemy team are very strong players, then there's nothing you can do, sometimes the matchmaker might pair you with a very strong team because your team is the second strongest in the queue at the time. If the other team is better, focus on what they are doing well and what you can learn from them. Don't focus too much on win/lose, as long as you tried and had fun!
c. If you had a bad fight and your friends are on your team, comfort each other afterward, either by facebook or forum, talk about what each of you did well, and what can be done better next time. Maybe the team need to wait for each other more, and stay together, maybe different hero combination would work better than what you picked, there's always something you can do better, and it's helpful to think of one thing you can do differently.
d. If you show that you can handle a loss well, your teammates are more likely to invite you to play again, a good attitude is always appreciated especially when everyone already feels bad about losing!
6. How to get invited to battles: making friends using forum and facebook Top
This part gives some suggestions on how you can make friends and build relationship with other players, so they will invite you to play with them.
a. When some post suggestions, guides, a drawing, or just saying hi in the forum, post a reply, as they probably put time and effort into making something you enjoy! They will appreciate your reply and you are building a relationship with that player, and they are more likely to invite you to play, or accept your invite.
b. When other people say something at the forum that is funny, look below their comment and give them a “like†“agree†or “LOL†this also builds relationships as you are supporting someone and their comment. You can also take a moment to respond to their comment and let them what your thoughts are.
c. When a new player comes to the forum, welcome them to the community and suggest they add you to play together! Many of the players come from other MOBA games, and they will become good at Vainglory very quickly, they can be great teammates! Being friendly also let other new users who are lurking in the forum know that you want other players to team with, and they will add your IGN and request to be your friend.
7. Posting, Community contribution and reputation Top
a. If you have something that you want to write, take the time to organize your ideas, write it and post it to share with other players. You can mention in the end that you want to be added and have teammates to play with. I post regularly and this helps me be invited to battles. Players read my posts and they become familiar with my IGN and my ideas, then they feel like they know me better, and they are more likely to want to play with someone they know over someone they just seen the ID.
b. When you post something, it shows that you understand how the game is played, and you will be a helpful teammate in a battle. You also show that you are involved in this community, and you are going to stay around for a while. Players want to make friends with other players who will stay around, and continues to get better at the game.
c. When you post or respond, be fun, funny, positive, serious, whatever suits you works. Show your personality so it reflects who you are, and players respond to posts that is sincere and real.
that's all the suggestions I have, please feel free to add your suggestion along with your IGN! Let's share our ideas about team queuing and let's play together soon!
