Before I give you a guide on Taka, you have to know who he is, as well as his strengths and weaknesses. Oh boy, prepare for a walk of text.
Taka is meant to be a jungle assassin who kills people(duh). Here are his roles(by order of importance):
1. Assassin(do I have to explain this?)
He kills people. Yay.
2. Initiator
He starts fights. With his X-Retsu building up his stacks of ki, he not only delivers a devastating blow to the enemy, he provokes fights and strengthens himself. One of Taka's quotes is "Let's start a team fight!" or something along those lines.
3. Chaser
This is a role I invented. This is self-explanatory. Taka chases enemies when they try to escape because he has two gap closers, a speed boost/invis move, and whenever he attacks someone with his mortal wound ability, he gets a burst of speed.
4.Scout
With his invis move, he's able to look around the brush and expose enemies to his teammates without get ambushed.
5. Escape Artist
Another fictional role. When worse comes to worst, Taka can use his Kaiten to dodge attacks and his Kaku to run away. Sometimes it's better to save your own skin instead letting the enemy getting an ace.
Ok, we're done with Taka's roles. Now to move on to the pros and cons of Taka.
Pros-
-Good at all the above roles.
-East recovery go the go.
-Strong even in the early game
-Makes enemies heal less with his mortal wound strikes
-Can make enemy bleed
-Gets extra damage and movement speed because of his perk
-One of two characters who can
-I believe he can dodge Koshka's ultimate with his Kaiten, don't quote me on that
-He's a ninjer
Cons-
-Squishy(even more than Koshka;tested and proven)
-Has no stuns or slows
-Half the time, Kaiten doesn't even seem to work when you're getting three teamed.
-Suspectible to scout traps, flares, and Celeste's skills/perk
-For some reason, people can still get targeted when they're invisible. That's just a rumor though.
-When you get hit, you're no longer invisible
Look at this list and see if Taka is the right hero for you. If not, just walk away from this guide.
Now that we got introductions out of the way, let's move onto items(get the items in the order they are listed, or show up in the item bars). These are Tier 3 items and consumables only.
1.Aftershock
This is one Taka's core crystal item. If you rush into the fray with a X-Retsu, and basic attack once, this combo should do quite a bit of damage(normally 40% of a heroes' health should be gone if they have no health or defense items). This also gives Taka cool down reduction, energy recharge, and 35 crystal power. What a bargain!
2.Tornado Trigger
Taka's core weapon item, a bit more important to this build than sorrowblade(at least for me). This allows to attack much faster, which does 4 things; more mortal wound strikes, more stacks of ki, killing people is easier, and last hitting. The order in which you get this can be reversed with sorrowblade, depending on the situation. If you are jungling, get sorrow blade for killing things quicker. If you're roaming and banking to kill people, get sorrowblade first.
3. Travel Boots
At this point you'll notice that Taka is pretty slow. You'll need the extra speed, both to get away and to chase. Better now than after you get sorrowblade/ tornado trigger. Get journey boots as your last item.
4. Sorrowblade
You might be thinking, "get a tyrant's module, breaking point, tension bow, or serpent's mask, you noob". Well, don't. Check the bottom for the reasons why. Bottom line is, make it easy on yourself and get a sorrowblade.
5. Frostburn
This goes great with Taka, because, not only do you get a lot of crystal power, it slows people down so you can hit them and kill them.
6. Alternating Current
Most people think this item sucks, but it's pretty good... when you have a lot of crystal power. The thing that crystal Taka noobs do that pisses me off is that they rush this item first. First, you don't even have enough crystal power to give you a decent damage boost. Second, if you want attack speed, get a blazing salvo; if you want crystal power get a eclipse prism. A Taka that rushes alternating current first is a useless Taka. HOWEVER, if you're smart and a good Taka, you'll get it as your last item to get a maximum damage boost. It also gives you some more attack speed.
This next section is to tell you what NOT to get.
Don't get...
...breaking point because you simply don't do enough damage for the stacks to be any use, even if you got sorrowblade first. We need space in this build, so don't clutter it with useless weapon items. Taka also dies quick and has to escape, so you'll lose all your stacks.
...tension bow because, if you haven't noticed, this build has no defensive items. You'll die before you get another charge of your tension bow. Also, it's not like you can kill most people even if you do have that.
...serpent's mask because he don't do enough damage to even life steal from people.
...tyrant's module because your crit chance is till only 60% with the tornado trigger, and you only do 90% extra crit damage. Let's do the math. Taka does 126+40(mortal wound) damage at level 12 without any weapon boosting items. If you have a tornado trigger and tyrant's module , you do 194.4 extra damage, which isn't as gods as a sorrowblade's base weapon damage. Furthermore, critical hits are inconsistent, and +194 attack damage is with mortal wound. Obvioulsy, tyrant's module isn't too good for this build.
...clockwork because Taka already has super low cool downs. Aftershock only makes it better. Aftershock also provides the energy recharge you need. At level 8, Kaiten requires no energy, so don't even think about that void battery.
...eve of harvest because you don't need the energy, and you don't do enough crystal damage to life steal a lot.
...shatterglass because Taka's crystal ratio on his skills isn't too high, doesn't provide any special effects, and is really expensive.
...broken myth because it doesn't provide as much crystal power as frostburn(I know I'm being kinda hypocritical), costs a lot, and the stacks will Taka because Taka has to escape.
...any defensive items because this set has items that each have their own purpose. There simply isn't enough space. Even if you keep getting killed, then your team is weak or the enemy team is to strong. There isn't any middle ground where you can get a defensive item and it'll make life all better.
I feel like a made a lot of people mad because they had to read all this text. XD.
Skills and Strategies Top
Look at the skills chart and go by that.
1. Kaiten
You'll want to put all 5 points into this because the energy cost is ridiculous. It's overdrive negates any need for any energy items.
2. Kaku
Put 4 points into this kills because it's only meant for escaping and chasing. Nothing special here. Move along now.
3. X-Retsu
Put all 3 points into this because it deals a lot of damage and gives you stacks of ki according to however many points you put into it.
Now for the fun part;Combos(or I should say combo)
Use X-Retsu to start a fight and get your ki up. Next, land a basic attack for the aftershock. If the enemy starts to run, use Kaiten, if not, attack again until they run, or you need to. Save Kaiten only for pursuing and escaping. If you need to run, land a Kaiten as a parting gift and activate Kaku immediately, forget the aftershock, you can use that later. After getting away a and healing get back into the battle or go back to base depending on your health(if you are under 50%, wait and see what happens. If under 20%, return to base. Make your own judgements). If you're still good to go, land a basic attack on an enemy to use the aftershock you didn't use, and repeat this entire process until your team or their team is dead or at their base.
To sum it up:
X-Retsu>Basic Attack>Basic Attack>Kaiten>Basic Attack>Kaku/Pursue(depending on your health, teammates, and positioning)>Repeat
Other than that I think I'm done. Wait, scouting. This is pretty basic. Use Kaku to hide yourself and go into bushes and see if enemies are there. Yeah, I think I have everything covered.
Writer's Notes and Afterword Top
Let me say a couple things. First, this guide is only for very advanced/experienced/good players. If you are new to this game, don't bother with this becuaee you'll probably not get this to work. You need a lot of skill to use this, which is the reason why no one plays hybrids these days(because they can't). Second, this guide is very strict and has no tolerance for error. Don't change an item in the set because each of them have their own unique purposes, and changing an item will break the enitre set. Third, you have to be very careful because this item set has no defensive items. Taka is squishy up to point where no amount of defensive items will help him, unless you're playing a tank Taka(which is the dumbest thing ever). Simply put, Taka's survivalbility is beyond salvation. Fourth, if you fail to kill the enemies, don't blame me or this guide, it's probably because you or your team isn't good or that the enemies are too strong. Lastly, this build is very gold dependent; you have to gather it quickly. Check the item bars for when you need the items by. Falling behind will make you life a whole lot more difficult. I can only sometimes keep up with the the times I set, so don't be depressed if you don't get the items exactly on time.
This entire set and guide was made only by me, and has been tested 4 times with players similar to my skill level. This entire set takes some getting used to, but it's probably the best hybrid Taka guide out there. My Vaingloy username is iCasualGamer if anyone is interested. This is my first guide, so don't judge. I hope I see more hybrid Taka's out in the Halcyon Fold.
