Now that changes in Update 2.0 have been out for a while giving folks a chance to get familiar with the new changes of the game, we thought it'd be a great time to do a contest! It's pretty simple, all you have to do is update or write a guide for one of the three roles as well as have it fit the current Update of the game, simple as that! The contest will run about 4 weeks. At the end we'll select a total of 6 winners and they'll get some pretty cool prizes!
Contest Categories
As stated above we'll be separating the guide contest into the 3 meta roles, (1) The Captain, (2) The Carry, and (3) The Jungler. If you are writing a guide for a hero that can fulfill multiple roles, as long as each role is fully explained and has a provided build for that role, you can win any of the categories (pretty sweet right?). In case you need a refresher, here's a quick break down of the roles.
The Captain
(Goal: Protect the Carry)
The captain is the leader and shot-caller of the team. This role’s job is directing real-time team tactics and, most importantly, protecting your carry from harm. And while we deserve any jokes at our expense about another name change (RIP roamer), the choice of “captain” isn’t just cosmetic. We have a long-term vision for how the captain will play a unique in-game role on a team, with a markedly different mindset, options and incentives.
This role is for those who like to lead, absorb damage and shield allies from harm.
The Carry
(Goal: Secure Kills)
The carry is the team’s gold-hungry playmaker. This role usually has the player in lane to earn money faster and build items quicker — all for the express purpose of killing as many enemies as possible . The carry is the most dangerous team member, but it’s also the most fragile. As such, the carry should always be in close proximity to the captain or a turret cannon. If the carry is alone or positioned too far forward, it likely won’t end well.
This role is for those who hit hard and secure kills.
The Jungler
(Goal: Menace the Enemy Carry)
The jungler prowls the area beneath the lane, looking to threaten or ambush out of place enemies. The jungler is halfway between the captain and the carry — durable enough to offer some protection and hard hitting enough to stand and fight — but with neither as a specialty. The jungler is most effective when breaking through the enemy front line and creating chaos (or death) for the enemy carry.
This role is for those who like to get in the enemy’s face .
What would a good guide be without a good build? If you don't buy any items you probably aren't going to do very well! So first thing's first, tell us what to buy! (under the Items tab) of your guide.
Purchases tell your readers what order they should buy their items in, it’s pretty nifty.
Depth of Information- now tell us how to play!
What order do you level your skills in? Do you wait for a certain moment to use a skill? How do you play against this hero or that hero? All these little details should not only teach beginners the basics, but teach experienced players little tips and tricks they may not have known before. We've jotted down a list of common topics to touch on in a guide below.
Skill order
How to use your skills effectively
First purchase
Build order and how to counterbuild
Tips and tricks
Matchups and synergy
Other game concepts such as team fighting, jungling, pushing, map objectives, etc
Formatting and Readability- add some polish
If your guide has typos everywhere and all the text is in bright blue it might be a little hard to read. We're not saying that every guide writer should be Rembrandt, but take some time to proofread and add some formatting to your guide to help readers quickly find important information. Below are some coding help threads, and please feel free to PM us or leave a comment if you want any more help!
Our team is primarily english based speakers. However, if you write your guide in clear enough Spanish we will do our best to translate it to English.

3.) You can update your old guide for sure, make sure it reflects the current patch of the game :)
