ELO is a hidden stat that can only be found through data mining. Essentially, it's kinda your "power level". If you beat a team with a high ELO, yours will increase a lot. If you beat a team with a low ELO, it will increase a little. These effects are mirrored if you lose. The goal is to match up with opponent equal or stronger than you to raise your rank. The rank title is just a verbal representation of where your ELO is.

It is quite hard to move up a rank, from simply amazing tier. You pretty much need to form your own team with good communication from there.
