Hi everyone,

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on the fact that casual matches don't contribute to elo rank. I understand the premise of casual matches is for you to not have to worry about your elo dropping and so you can experiment with builds, but the matches can still be just as intense as ranked matches and you deal with all the same BS like spam-pingers and AFK's. I feel like casual matches should still give you a little elo boost, like 1/10 of what a ranked match would be, anything.

During Season 0, I was stick in Not Bad-Bronze and I had a hard time leveling up, and was a pixel from dropping to the next tier. I just kept to casual matches so that I wouldn't make the situation worse, but of course, didn't improve the situation either. Such is life...

Hi there!

I don't feel that casual games should reward anything towards ranked matched simply because it is a glorified testing grounds for new builds or people who just prefer not to do ranked matches and enjoy playing with a semi broader brush stroke in player skills. That being said I think that if a person was to be rewarded with even a small amount of xp towards their current rank status it would detract from the current ranking system that is in place now and be unfair to those who invest a great deal of time researching, testing and learning new or old tactics as they are playing it competitively within their skill bracket/rank.

But lets assume that VG did do this for people, you couldn't just give people a reward for games won in casual game without a counter balance to it or it would destroy the current ranking system that is in place and the reason why they don't do it now is because theoretically if people played long enough they would hit the cap at some point without ever having to play a ranked game. so with that in mind you can't justify a system like that due to the fairness of it, because at the end of the season there are prizes such as glory and ice payouts based on the performance and efforts made by people who play it at a competitive level which in some cases is a second job or feels like one at times because of the amount of dedication required to play in high level matches.

Now if you are like me and wish to gain rank the only way to do so is to play ranked matches as you stated earlier, of course you will go up and down as peoples skills and knowledge of the game will vary greatly but don't let losing a rank or two stop you from participating in the ranked side of VG. As long as you put a little effort into it by researching builds and tactics the results will show and you will slowly but surely climb through the ranks. GL in future battles!
