What determines skill improvement after a match? Is it you personal score against other players or is it as a team( your win or loose)?

Your personal performance within that particular game is irrelevant in regards to the skill tier improvement. The only thing that affects the skill tiers is wins and losses. The AMOUNT of forward or backward movement is determined by the combined skill rankings of all players involved in the match. Meaning that if the combined skill rankings of the players on your team is higher than that of the team you just beat, you will only get a slight boost in ranking. If your teams' combined rating is lower than your opponents, you will get a larger boost. The same is also true for when you lose. If you lose to a team with a lower combined ranking than your team, you will drop lower than if you had lost to a team with a higher combined ranking.
