So, my first ranked game we get to the character selection screen and I have soft selected Ringo. One team mate instalocks Krul and the other has Joule soft selected. So I lock in Ringo, after which team mate #3 decides it would be a great idea to switch to Celeste. Had they soft selected Celeste, I was gonna go with a Koshka. After both teams lock in, we see the opposition has selected Celeste, Krul and Taka. Not a great start...

Then after just 5 minutes, Krul goes AFK. Or at least appears to. He returns a minute or so later, only to go AFK again once they get the Kraken. He literally sat at the spawn until the second the we killed the Kraken, which was right after the final turret went down. Needless to say, we lost that match.

I have to say, my first ranked queue experience was very underwhelming. I don't mind a loss, but I can't stand the AFK's and apparently deliberate team imbalances. Not the fault of the developers, or anything like that. I was hoping instalocking and AFK'ers would all but disappear in the ranked queue. Maybe I got my hopes up too high?

What skill tier are you in?

At the time of OP, I had just lost like 8/10 games, due to the same stuff: AFK's and trolls. Players running off and doing their own thing late game. Players picking squishy heroes and jumping in to 2v3, or worse 1v3 fights.

Thankfully, that was the only game like that in the ranked queue. At least so far. In just a day, I've risen two full tiers, from Not Bad - Bronze to Pretty Good - Bronze. Most of the games I've had have been with players that at least understand the intent of their characters design and play accordingly.

I know I'm not a great player, but I knew I was better than the Not Bad and lower Decent-ish tiers. I'm hoping to hit Simply Amazing, but would be more than happy with The Hotness. Ranked queue will be all I play from now on, unless I'm trying a new hero, or a new build.

Damn, you're doing good... Keep pushing! Simply amazing isn't actually that hard to hit when you finally understand the higher tier playstyles; you'll be there in no time.

The reason why I asked is bc I'm seeing a ton of screwing around on SA casual. I can't play ranked yet cause my level is too low, so I was wondering if there was anybody experiencing the same problems at or around me tier. But anyways, there'll come a day when the bad players slowly become less frequent... Look forward to it!! :)

I'm in the hotness and my level is too low to join ranked. (I'm at level 8) I am experiencing HORRIBLE teammates that choose the wrong comps and never come to a teamfight... just stay in lane. I think the level is too high but I just have to suck it up and grind it out I guess.

Just sucks and is frustrating :(

It doesn't take too long to get to level 10, unless you're only playing one or two games a day. You'll be there in no time. Since I started playing ranked queue, the only losses I've had, other than my very first game in ranked, have been to clearly better players. I'm totally okay with that. I'm a gracious loser - when the reason for the loss is being out played. AFK's and trolls, while sadly part of the game, make the game almost unbearable. I literally had like 12-16 games in a row with either bad team comps thanks to instalocks, bad player positioning and general gameplay, and AFK's.

I would totally be down to play with either of you once you hit the ranked queue. My IGN is SlobberWookie. Primarily a Ringo player, but solid with Koshka and Catherine.
