Did we just lose the VG servers?

Am playing in the UK and the game just died and can't connect to the servers. Instead, I am getting a message about being offline for maintenance, but there is nothing in the forums and nothing was posted in game about expected server downtime?

Yes, maintenance does happen sometimes, you can check VG's twitter for maintenance update.
