I'm not able to put silvernail to sleep with Baptiste, and I would like to know why.

sleep? babtiste??? you mean fear? whatever the case, the items "reflex block", "crusible" and "aegis" can block all crown control abilities while active. your ability might have been constantly blocked by those.
