Yes you can calm him down just saying that the peak level he reached this season is recorded to the next season. Even if he drops some rating, he'll still appear as a 2300+ skill tier in Blitz (for the entire next season) Tell him that Saw is still great in Blitz matches, regardless the skill tier he's playing ;)

If you really play better than you should based on you current skill tier, eventually you'll find some silled player and befriend him. There are a lot of high tier players with smurf accounts playing on low tiers. If you are lucky enough, you can find some experienced players trying to build up a better stats from scratch with a fresh account.
