His build was only good for 1v1 against another Warrior type hero. A glass cannon like that could easily be deleted in HALF a second with a stun or kited by your laner.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but your build is too selfish. Aegis & Jacket should never be bought on a support Catherine. You won't need to do damage if your carrys are staying alive and have sufficient funds. Replace those 2 with contract and pauldron or mines/flares. Even a shiversteel or Bonesaw are better purchases than Aegis & Jacket.

You're not going to get a lot of sympathy for dropping to 4s from 5b. I've dropped to Not Bad from Pretty Good 3 times now, should expect and get used to it. Should someone at "Ask Again Later" really need 100 games won? By that time chances are that player will have enough game experience to go toe-to-toe with "Not Bad". Tiers 1 - 3 would be empty. I am in PG at the moment. I've dropped from PG two times now down to Not Bad. Each of those times I tried consistently complimenting my other teams choices at hero selection. Everytime I got to PG from Decentish, I BARRELED my way through by regularly instalocking a lane carry. It might be a poor sample size but so far from my experience, if I want to hold on or move ahead in ranks, I have to instalock a carry. The heroes have innate shield&armor values that grow as they level up. BM doesn't just increase CP damage and pierce shields, it also increases the base damage of abilities. But, as far as I know passives don't stack, so there is little gain from getting 2 BM.

Ranked SoloQ? Instalock all the way! And I wouldn't be afraid to dual lane if a SAW unfortunately locks in despite you already having locked in lane. Dual lane with a SAW and you should be taking the first turret halfway down before the enemies finish their first jungle cycle, forcing them into the lane with you. They have no choice, if their first turret goes down early their laner will have insufficient farm for the rest of the match as long as your team doesn't take any minion mines.
