As a general rule, you only get exp and money when you score the last hit on an enemy minion or enemy hero. There are items, however, that allow you to share that exp: the ironguard contract and stormguard banner (asides from increading the damage you deal to enemy turrets and minions) give you money for every 5 times you receive damage from a minion AND you get a bit of exp/money when said minion is slayed by a hero companion while you're nearby. Played a game just now as Ardan with another SAW (enemy was Taka, SAW and Adagio), with a Taka who insisted on farming despite our green pinging on the lane now and then for him to help us finish one of the other laners (they were making a spectacular job of covering each other). I could forgive that if it was a case of trying to build enough levels to demolish the enemy further on (he was the first one to reach lvl 12 when the rest of us, including enemy team, was between 8 and 10). But then...

You must have really, really, really bad luck there, mate. And it's somehting I'm actually curious about, seeing all the recently surfaced post about it. I solo que almost constantly (having only one or two people on my friends list I play with occasionally), and the situation described by you is something that happens to me once every... five? or so matches. 20% probability, to be generous. And I never try to carry, always play support (the few times I tried laning, it was a disaster)....

As a counter-point, had a pretty good Taka user last night. T'was Ardan (me), Joule and Taka against Adagio, Petal and Krul. We were crazy to go in all-melee, but Joule and I managed to keep the lane while Taka farmed like crazy. In the end we prevailed, mainly thanks to sticking together and flaring to gank the others: Joule jumped in, I corraled the rest and Taka bursted/went into his box/rinse/repeat. It was one of the most enjoyable matched I've had, actually. And I almost let it pass at...

Well said, Denni. People raging against a free game, updated constantly, with attentive devs and a wonderful community really annoy me as well. And is rank really that important? Just a badge, man. The important thing is having fun while competing. Not the other way around. Also, spamming the same comment in multiple threads is too childish.

He's support. He's supposed to be tanky, just as a Catherine with all defensive items is nigh unkillable. I've played as and against a number of Ardans, and his damage output without any WP or CP on him is nowhere near burst-levels, which in the end is what really matters when engaging a number of enemies. You should never focus on the tank, anyway; not until all those squishy damage-dealers are done with. Then it's a 3v1, and not even Ardan can withstand those odds for much without dying...

I was wondering about this when I was picking up Glory for Ardan. Was quite tempted to buy ICE and get him right away, but at $10 it seemed too expensive. Now $5, on the other hand... Wouldn't have doubted it for a sec, as well as a way to support the developers.
